  • Patent number: 10939790
Abstract: A central vacuum cleaner having an outer shell, a suction chamber located inside the outer shell, a suction chamber inlet comprising a fluid passage through the outer shell into the suction chamber, a suction motor inside the outer shell and having a suction motor inlet in fluid communication with the suction chamber and configured to generate a flow of air from the suction chamber inlet to the suction chamber and into the suction motor inlet, an electronic control unit receiver, and an electronic control unit configured to selectively operatively connect to the electronic control unit receiver, and when so connected, control operation of the suction motor, the electronic control unit being selectively removable from the electronic control unit receiver and the suction motor without disassembling the outer shell.

  • Patent number: 9986882
Abstract: A central vacuum cleaner having a main housing, a suction chamber located inside the main housing, a shelf extending from the main housing into the suction chamber, a suction chamber inlet providing a fluid passage through the main housing into the suction chamber, a suction motor having a suction motor inlet in fluid communication with the suction chamber and configured to generate a flow of air from the suction chamber inlet to the suction chamber and into the suction motor inlet, a mounting flange extending from the suction motor towards the main housing, and a number of clamps. Each clamp is movably mounted to the mounting flange and has a first end movable between a locked position in which the shelf is held between the first end and the mounting flange, and an unlocked position in which the shelf is not held between the first end and the mounting flange.

  • Patent number: 9579004
Abstract: A central vacuum having a housing, a suction chamber in the housing, a suction motor, a suction chamber inlet, and a utility port. The utility port has a suction opening that leads into the suction chamber, and a utility port door pivotal between a closed position to cover the suction opening, and an open position to uncover the suction opening. Also, provided is a utility port having a suction opening, a door to selectively cover the suction opening, a latch to selectively lock the door closed, a floating plate movably mounted on the door, and a seal between the floating plate and the suction opening. Also, provided is a method for operating a utility port door on a vacuum cleaner suction chamber, the method including pushing the utility port door a first time to close the door, and pushing the utility port door a second time to open the door.

  • Patent number: 9131816
Abstract: A central vacuum cleaner having a housing, a suction chamber, a suction motor at an upper end of the suction chamber, a suction motor inlet, a dirt receptacle, a suction chamber inlet into the suction chamber, and a filter bag between the suction chamber inlet and the suction motor inlet cover. The suction motor has an impeller axis and a suction motor inlet located on and surrounding the impeller axis. The suction motor inlet cover has a bottom wall on the impeller axis below the suction motor inlet, a sidewall extending upwards from the bottom wall and surrounding the suction motor inlet, an inlet chamber formed by the bottom wall and sidewall, and an inlet cover opening fluidly connecting the suction chamber to the inlet chamber. The inlet cover opening is offset from the impeller axis and faces at an upwards angle towards the upper end of the suction chamber.
