  • Patent number: 5602478
Abstract: In a magnetic resonance apparatus including a transducer (25, 31 ) positioned in the examination region of the apparatus, the transducer is connected with equipment (49) outside the examination region by way of a lead (47) which is grounded (51, 53) to signals of the frequency of the RF field applied to a subject (5) in the examination region to excite magnetic resonance in the subject, at a distance along the lead from the transducer equal to a quarter wavelength at the RF field frequency (or an odd multiple thereof). Distortion of the RF field due to loading by the transducer is thereby reduced. The transducer may, for example, be a microphone or loudspeaker, e.g. incorporated in an intercom or active noise reduction arrangement, or a sensor for sensing a condition of a patient being examined.

  • Patent number: 5577504
Abstract: In a magnetic resonance apparatus including an active noise reduction arrangement (9, 49, 51, 53) for use by a patient (5) undergoing examination in the apparatus the transducers (25, 31) of the arrangement are non-magnetic, e.g. are of the electret, piezoelectric or condenser type, and have no parts of ferromagnetic material.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 19, 1994
Date of Patent: November 26, 1996
    Assignee: GEC-Marconi Limited
Inventors: Anthony J. Salloway, David J. Gilderdale
  • Patent number: 4953217
Abstract: In order to overcome problems in an active noise reduction system of sound buffets at low frequency and signal enhancement caused by imperfect transfer functions of a noise cancelling sound generator and a microphone, one or more high pass filters for reducing low frequency signals are provided in a feedback loop between the sound generator and microphone. A low pass filter is provided for extending the bandwidth of the system but which does not introduce unduly large phase shifts.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 7, 1989
Date of Patent: August 28, 1990
    Assignee: Plessey Overseas Limited
Inventors: Robert C. Twiney, Anthony J. Salloway
  • Patent number: 4514596
Abstract: A telephone subscriber subset including a transducer for generating audible signalling tone information in which the signalling tones are received at the input terminal as substantially sinusoidal electrical waveforms and including a converter within the handset for conversion of the signalling tones to a substantially non-sinusoidal electrical waveforms before feeding to the transducer.

Date of Patent: April 30, 1985
    Assignee: Plessey Overseas Limited
Inventors: Geoffrey M. Garner, Anthony J. Salloway
