  • Patent number: 10585451
Abstract: A portable information handling system transforms between clamshell and all-in-one positions by sliding a display housing pivot axis towards a front side of a main housing and raising the rear side of the main housing with a stand that extends out from a bottom surface of the main housing. A keyboard detaches from the main housing upper surface to expose guides that manage the display housing sliding motion towards the main housing front side. The all-in-one position raises the main housing towards a near-vertical orientation to raise the display above a support surface for end user viewing while an end user interacts with the keyboard separated from the housing.

  • Patent number: 10558245
Abstract: An information handling system narrow width dual axes hinge rotationally couples portable information handling system housing portions to each other with minimal spacing between the housing portions. A gear assembly synchronizes motion about the dual axles at one end of the dual axles, the gear assembly having brackets to couple to each housing portion. Torque brackets couple to the opposite end of the dual axles, each torque bracket couple to a housing portion and resisting rotation of the housing portions by generating friction at the axle.

  • Patent number: 10558244
Abstract: A portable information handling system stand couples to a main housing lower surface with a dual axle hidden stand hinge that extends the stand parallel to the main housing lower surface with an initial synchronized opposing rotation of the axles by a predetermined amount, such as 45 degrees, and then rotates out a stand supporting end with rotation of one axle while the other axle remains stationary. Initial parallel extension of the stand reduces the amount of space in the main housing lower surface consumed by rotational movement of the stand to an extended position.

  • Patent number: 10429885
Abstract: A hinge assembly for a portable information handling system (IHS) includes an upper hinge axle coupled to a lid of the portable IHS, a lower hinge axle coupled to a base of the portable IHS, and a hinge cover encompassing the upper and lower hinge axles. A fulcrum foot provided on the hinge cover contacts a support surface when the lid is rotated to a first usage angle, and continues to support the portable IHS on the support surface as the lid is rotated further through a wide range of usage angles. When the lid is rotated beyond the first usage angle, a rear portion of the base lifts away from the support surface, and conceals an increasing greater portion of a lower bezel surrounding a display screen of the portable IHS. To reduce the amount of lift, internal components of the hinge assembly are offset by an angle ? of about 10°-20° from a vertical axis.

  • Publication number: 20190286196
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for preventing a display component of a portable information handling system from opening when in an upside down position. The portable information handling system may include a base component coupled to the display component by a gravity lockout hinge. The gravity lockout hinge may include a shaft, a bearing channel having a bearing channel surface opposite the shaft, and a movable bearing disposed in the bearing channel. The gravity lockout hinge may, when the portable information handling system is in an upside down position and a gravitational force is exerted on the display component, exert a first frictional torque on the shaft that may cause the movable bearing to contact the shaft and the bearing channel surface, and exert a second frictional torque on the shaft that may prevent an angular position of the display component relative to the base component from being changed.

  • Publication number: 20190169896
Abstract: A dual axis hinge assembly couples first and second hinges to each other with a central barrel and routes cables across hinge axles with cable channels formed in the axles. The dual axis hinge assembly rotationally couples information handling system housing portions to each other and routes cables between the housing portions distal the barrel by running the cables through a channel formed in each axle of one of the hinges with the cable entering one axle distal the barrel, routing through the axle to a position proximate the barrel, crossing the hinge to enter the other hinge axle proximate the barrel and routing though the other axle to exit distal the barrel.

  • Patent number: 6140137
Abstract: Novel chemical analogs of the methadone metabolite 2-ethylidene-1,5-dimethyl-3,3-diphenylpyrrolidine (EDDP) are disclosed. The derivatives can be used for formation of EDDP-protein conjugates. The conjugates can be used in turn to raise antibodies reactive with EDDP and having a low cross-reactivity with methadone. The antibodies and EDDP-enzyme polypeptide conjugates provide the basis for specific immunoassays used in monitoring compliance with methadone treatment.

  • Patent number: 5766875
Abstract: The present invention method may be practiced with many different types of biological cells. Biological cells may be either eucaryotic or procaryotic cells. The cells may be in the form of tissue slices or tissue homogenates or may be in the form of suspensions of intact single cells. The intact single cells may be grown in cell culture, as described in the previous examples, or may be obtained from blood, other body fluids, or from tissue biopsy. The cells may be cells containing receptors transfected by recombinant DNA techniques, or alternatively may be cells naturally responding to cell-affecting agents. The cells may be fresh or may have been previously preserved by dehydration, refrigeration, or freezing. When the cells have been preserved, preservative agents (for example dimethylsulfoxide in the case of frozen cells) may be removed prior to measurement of the effect of cell-affecting agents on rates of extracellular acidification. The cells may be either plant cells or animal cells.
