Patent number: 12411499Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling an aerial vehicle to avoid obstacles are disclosed. A system can detect, based on a world model generated from sensor data captured by one or more sensors positioned on the aerial vehicle during flight, an obstacle for the aerial vehicle, and trigger an augmented manual control mode responsive to a speed of the aerial vehicle being less than a predetermined threshold and detecting the obstacle. The system can set, responsive to triggering the augmented manual control mode, a speed constraint for the aerial vehicle in a direction of the obstacle based on a distance between the aerial vehicle and the obstacle. The system can receive an instruction to navigate the aerial vehicle in the direction at a second speed, and adjust the instruction to replace the second speed with the speed constraint, causing the aerial vehicle to navigate at the speed constraint.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 2022Date of Patent: September 9, 2025Assignee: LOCKHEED MARTIN CORPORATIONInventors: Anthony J. Smith, Navid Tehrani Dadkhah, Michael Gregory Todd

Patent number: 11263365Abstract: A method of producing a vehicle includes determining the performance of aged adhesive coupons, which are subject to a worst-case scenario of manufacturing, aging, and stress testing. Virtual vehicle components are modeled using the performance of the aged adhesive coupons. The virtual vehicle components are then subjected to virtual mechanical forces to determine their virtual performance, which is then validated against the performance of identical real-life aged vehicle components subjected to identical mechanical forces. A virtual vehicle is modeled using the validated virtual vehicle components. The virtual performance of the virtual vehicle when subject to a virtual crash test is then compared against a predetermined standard, and the design of the virtual vehicle is considered feasible if its performance exceeds the predetermined standard. A vehicle is manufactured according to the feasible design of the virtual vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 2019Date of Patent: March 1, 2022Assignee: HONDA MOTOR CO., LTD.Inventors: Benjamin J. Patent number: 11021888Abstract: A trailer carrying a utility pole has parallel spaced beams and transverse interconnections at a front and spaced inward from a rear of the beams. Rests on top of the interconnections support a pole-holding channel that is connected to the beams with plural pivoted frames. A wire passes through turning blocks at a rearward end of the channel and near the rearward interconnection, rotating the frames and pulling the channel towards the rearmost transverse interconnection until the channel holds the pole upright. The trailer is lowered and the pole is connected to a prepared supporting block. The channel is detached from the pole. The channel and frames are lowered by releasing the wire, and the trailer is raised and towed away.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 2019Date of Patent: June 1, 2021Inventor: Anthony J. Smith

Patent number: 7341014Abstract: A system for one person raising and lowering the mast of a sailboat wherein the mast is less than about forty feet in length and in the down position the mast is laid horizontally along a median line of the hull of a sailboat. The system includes rigging to raise the height of the mast from the hull and then to pivot the mast with the pivot being near the lowest point of the mast. Means is provided to pivot the mast about the lowest point of the mast until the mast is in a vertical position. The mast is then brought down into an upstanding vertical position with means to support the mast on the sailboat at the mast's lowest point and upwardly therefrom. The same rigging may be used to lower the mast to the horizontal. The operations occur by a winch located towards the rear of the sailboat to either pay out a line thereon when lowering the mast to the horizontal or conversely to take up the line when the mast is pivoted to the vertical.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 2007Date of Patent: March 11, 2008Inventor: Anthony J. Patent number: 4365334Abstract: A system is disclosed for generating test data for testing logic circuits. It has a store storing a respective Logic List for each of the basic logic circuit types in the form of a list of logic states identifying terminals of the logic circuit to which specified data inputs are to be applied and terminals at which specified data outputs are expected.Another store generates connection information relating to a particular logic circuit under test and specifies any external conditions applied to that circuit by means of its terminals which modify its operation. Means are provided which then modify the logic states of the Logic List in dependence on the connection information, so as to produce a final set of test data which can be used immediately, or subsequently, to carry out the tests on the particular logic circuit.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 1981Date of Patent: December 21, 1982Assignee: Racal Automation LimitedInventors: Anthony J. Patent number: 4271516Abstract: By means of contact pins fixed on a plate, test signals may be applied to points in a logic circuit to be tested, the signals being applied for such short periods of time as not to damage components in the circuitry. High speed switches can be individually enabled so as to pre-select any particular one or ones of the contact pins, and a pulsed voltage source then momentarily energizes the pre-selected pins. Output signals are read via other switches connected to the contact pins. The high speed switches are electronic. Control means controls the switches in accordance either with pre-programmed information or with information fed in. In the latter case the fed-in information is then automatically transferred to enable it to be used again if that circuit type is tested in the future.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 1979Date of Patent: June 2, 1981Assignee: Racal Automation LimitedInventor: Anthony J. Patent number: T971006Abstract: an improved method of purifying wet-process phosphoric acid by sedimentation, in which the crude acid is intimately mixed with an appropriate amount of finely divided silica or silicate. The result is that the absolute magnitude of the zeta potential of the suspended solids, particularly humus and gypsum, decreases to a value that allows them to aggregate, settle rapidly, and be removed by conventional methods. The Si:F ratio is increased, effecting a reduction of fluorine contamination. The rate of growth of gypsum crystals is increased, reducing the amount of post-precipitation of gypsum and other particulates. Because the rate of settlement is increased, the holding time prior to further processing, such as concentrating to merchant-grade acid, is decreased, reducing storage and space requirements and associated capital investment as well as investment in product inventory.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 1977Date of Patent: June 6, 1978Assignee: Tennessee Valley AuthorityInventor: Anthony J.
