  • Patent number: 4150381
Abstract: An assembly for mounting an object such as a CB antenna and the like on rigid bodies, such as motor vehicles, trunk lids, and door frames, for example, comprises a support member mounted on the underside of the body and having a channel extending therethrough, a bracket for carrying the object and having a portion which is insertable into the channel, and resilient means for releasably securing the bracket in the channel.

  • Patent number: 4149694
Abstract: A CB antenna (10) or the like is mounted on the edge of an automobile trunk lid (12) by means of a stepped bracket (18), which carries the antenna, and a U-shaped support member (20) which is mountable on the trunk lid edge. The support member has a pair of opposing sides (20.2, 20.3) joined by a base (20.1) having a rectangular aperture (20.4) therein. One side (20.3) is depressed to form a plateau (20.5), and a plate (20.6) covers the plateau to form a slot (20.7) into which a lower tread (18.3) of the bracket is inserted. The rectangular aperture is reversed into the base so that a riser (18.4) of the bracket fits into the aperture flush with the base when the lower tread is inserted into the slot. Snap fit means (20.8, 18.5, 18.6) is included on the end portions of the one side (20.3) of the support member to secure the lid therein. A protective coating (20.9) is provided on the inner surface of the other side (20.2) to prevent the outer surface of the lid from being marred.

  • Patent number: 4114159
Abstract: Described is a mount assembly comprising a support member pivotally mounted, about a first axis, to a rigid body (e.g., the underside of a motor vehicle trunk lid) and a bracket pivotally mounted, about a second axis, to the support member so as to protrude above and to one side of the rigid body. An object such as a CB radio antenna, is mounted on the bracket. Resilient means couples the bracket to the support member for translation of the bracket along the second axis. The bracket, in addition, includes means for engaging the rigid body when the resilient means is under compression. In one embodiment the support member is mounted on the underside of an auto trunk lid and the engaging means includes a flange which engages a side edge of the lid. In another embodiment, the support is mounted on the underside of a van roof, near a rear or side door, and the engaging means includes a pair of hook-like fingers which engage a rain gutter above the door.

  • Patent number: 4114158
Abstract: A mount assembly for objects such as CB antennas is described in which: a stepped bracket has an upper tread for carrying the object, a lower tread having a recess therein and a riser connecting the treads together; a support member including a pair of guides mounted on the body and defining a channel, and a first U-shaped member connected obliquely to the guides so as to define an entrance port through which said lower tread is insertable into said channel; a cover plate partially enclosing the channel and having thereon a male member which snaps into the recess when the lower tread is fully inserted into the channel; and a second U-shaped member connected transversely to the first U-shaped member so as to define a slot which engages an edge of the body. Also described is an embodiment in which the recess is in the cover plate and the male member is on the lower tread as well as several configurations of the support member, second U-shaped member and lower treads.

  • Patent number: 4114160
Abstract: A plurality of stepped bracket configurations for mounting a CB (Citizen Band) antenna to an inner door frame of a motor vehicle, such as a car, van, truck and trailer cab are disclosed. Each illustrative bracket comprises a plurality of treads and at least one step riser. One of the treads comprises at least one hole for mounting the CB antenna thereon. A second tread comprises a pair of generally L-shaped rods extensions which cooperatively interfit with a pair of apertures in the inner door frame to guard against undesired removal of the bracket when the door is closed. Optionally, the second tread comprises an aperture for receiving a screw for insertion through a hole drilled in the inner door frame for semipermanently installing the bracket to the door frame. A spring-action handle subassembly is cooperatively mounted on the step riser for engaging a bracket member embracingly with the rain gutter of the roof of the vehicle.
