  • Patent number: 6747979
Abstract: A network layer bridge includes: plurality of ports for connection to different network segments, a first port and a second port for connection to respective first and second network segments; a memory for storing network layer addresses for nodes with corresponding port identifiers and data link layer addresses, and data link layer addresses of more than one type; and a unit for discovering corresponding port identifier and data link layer address for a network layer address. The bridge forwards a message from a first node to a second node when corresponding port identifiers and data link level addresses for both first and second nodes are stored in the memory; the message being addressed with the network layer address of the second node, and the network layer bridge directing the message through the corresponding port to the corresponding data link level address for the second node.

  • Publication number: 20040094631
Abstract: A method of identifying a steam turbine includes defining a plurality of individual blocks that identify critical design features for a plurality of turbine sections, and separating each of the individual blocks with separators. Exemplary blocks are defined for, for example, turbine code type, rotational speed, maximum capability of structured design, nominal design conditions, high-pressure, intermediate-pressure and low-pressure block levels, high-pressure design type, low-pressure last stage bucket, and generator type. The identification number contains the minimum required set of criteria to identify a unique, structured turbine design. The number can be used to identify duplication as well as cost and design attributes that are significant for consistency across a power generation business.

  • Patent number: 6729584
Abstract: New techniques are presented for detection methods employed in the control, automation and operation of scale Model railroad layouts that permit new types of capabilities to be incorporated into the railroad. The invention allows for the lowering of the cost of detection electronics by employing a redundant encoding of information in the transponder responses that are then used for detecting transponder location on the layout by using current sensors. The use of a complementary multiplex arrangement and algorithm allows a reduction in the detection electronics by virtue of the fact that most the conditioning electronics can be supplied in a single instance that is shared amongst the multiplexed current sensors.

  • Publication number: 20040082946
Abstract: An electrosurgical generator apparatus controls a variable output signal to electrodes. The generator apparatus operates in a cut mode, a coagulation mode or a stimulate mode. The generator apparatus comprises a DC power supply that provides regulated low voltage and high voltage outputs and a radio frequency (RF) waveform generator circuit that provides pulse duration modulation (PDM) of a carrier signal. The carrier signal directly affects the variable output signal to the electrodes. A control circuit controls a variable output signal to electrodes used in electrosurgical procedures. The control circuit comprises a DC power supply circuit that provides regulated low voltage and high voltage outputs and an RF waveform generator circuit that provides pulse duration modulation of a carrier signal. The carrier signal directly affects the variable output signal to the electrodes.

  • Publication number: 20040056052
Abstract: One embodiment of the disclosures made herein is a fluid dispensing apparatus having a weighted fluid extraction tube. In accordance with such an embodiment, a fluid container includes a neck portion and a closed end generally opposite the neck portion. A body is mounted on the neck portion of the fluid container. A fluid extraction tube is attached at a delivery end thereof to the body. The fluid extraction tube is attached in a manner enabling fluid to be extracted from within the fluid container and dispensed via the body. A weighting element is attached to the fluid extraction tube adjacent to a pick-up end of the fluid extraction tube, thereby providing a weighted fluid extraction tube. The weighting element provides for displacement of the pick-up end of the fluid extraction tube to a gravity-induced position within the fluid container.

  • Patent number: 6710878
Abstract: An in-line particulate detector comprises a housing having an inner flow portion. The housing Is disposed between adjacent portions of pipeline to permit a fuel flow from a fuel source through the inner flow portion to a fuel consumer. A light source is positioned within the housing for emitting a light beam within the inner flow portion. A first photodetector is positioned within the housing to detect the full strength of the light beam. A second photodetector is positioned within the housing to detect low, baseline levels of the light beam. Circuitry is coupled to first and second photodetectors to monitor the ratio of light intensities. When a fuel containing particulates is introduced, the light beam is scattered and the intensity measured by the second photodetector will increase and the intensity measured by the first photodetector will decrease.

  • Patent number: 6692825
Abstract: A nonwoven web and method of preparing a novel nonwoven web of synthetic fiber are disclosed. An aqueous solution amide crosslinked synthetic precursor polymer is extruded under defined conditions through a plurality of die orifices to form a plurality of threadlines. The threadlines are attenuated with a defined primary gaseous source to form fiber under conditions of controlled macro scale turbulence and under conditions sufficient to permit the viscosity of each threadline, as it leaves a die orifice and for a distance of no more than about 8 cm, to increase incrementally with increasing distance from the die, while substantially maintaining uniformity of viscosity in the radial direction, at a rate sufficient to provide fiber having the desired attenuation and mean fiber diameter without significant fiber breakage. The attenuated threadlines are dried with a defined secondary gaseous source. The resulting fibers are deposited randomly on a moving foraminous surface to form a substantially uniform web.

  • Publication number: 20040025288
Abstract: In one embodiment, the subject invention includes a squeegee mount assembly and a squeegee assembly which cooperate to permit both pivotal and linear motion of the squeegee assembly relative to the machine frame. To avoid contact with a stationary object, the squeegee assembly can be both pivoted and linearly moved to fully retract it within the boundary of a surface maintenance machine, thereby preventing damage to the squeegee assembly and/or the surface maintenance machine. In one embodiment, the subject invention includes a squeegee mounting assembly slidably coupled to the frame of a surface maintenance machine to allow transversal movement of the squeegee mounting assembly relative to the frame. The squeegee mounting assembly includes a mounting arm, a subframe, a return spring coupled between the subframe and the frame, and a stop.
