  • Patent number: 11932855
Abstract: Retrotransposons, operating though human-specific neurological pathways, can contribute to environment, lifestyle, and/or age-related neurodegeneration by disrupting functional mitochondrial populations within neurons. The mitochondrial disruption can occur through a number of retrotransposon-induced mechanisms that can influence the efficient and accurate transcription and/or translation of mitochondrial genes encoded in the nuclear genome, operating primarily through epigenetic processes. Alu element-related conformational changes (both subtle and major) of the outer and inner mitochondrial membrane pores can restrict or prevent the normal translocation of proteins (i.e., TOMM and TIMM complexes), ultimately contributing to mitochondrial stress, mitophagy, inflammation, and neuron and glial cell death.

  • Patent number: 11913004
Abstract: This disclosure concerns compositions and methods for promoting transcription of a nucleotide sequence in a plant or plant cell, employing a promoter from a GmTEFs1 gene. Some embodiments relate to a promoter or a 5? UTR from a GmTEFs1 gene that functions in plants to promote transcription of operably linked nucleotide sequences. Other embodiments relate to a 3? UTR or a terminator from a GmTEFs1 gene that functions in plants to promote transcription of operably linked nucleotide sequences.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 20, 2022
Date of Patent: February 27, 2024
    Assignee: CORTEVA AGRISCIENCE, LLC
Inventors: Lyudmila Sidorenko, Cory M. Larsen, Geny Anthony, Shreedharan Sriram, Holly Jean Butler

  • Patent number: 8941038
Abstract: A support assembly is provided for supporting a household appliance such as a non-convection microwave oven in a free-standing vertical relation with another household appliance such that the non-convection microwave oven is supported above the other household appliance. The support assembly includes a base tray having a floor portion on which the non-convection microwave oven can be disposed, brackets for fixedly securing the base tray to the other household appliance, and a pair of bracket arms for securing a trim element to the base tray.
