    Abstract: Disclosed are compositions suitable for topical application to human hair or skin, which comprise a combination of a liquid polyol fatty acid polyester having a melting point of from about −30° C. to about 30° C., and a solid oil other than a solid polyol fatty acid polyester having a melting point of above about 30° C. to about 250° C., wherein said liquid polyol fatty acid polyester has a polyol moiety and at least 1 fatty acid moiety, the polyol moiety having at least 4 free hydroxyl groups wherein at least 60% of these free hydroxyl groups are esterified with one or more fatty acid moieties having from about 8 to about 22 carbon atoms. The composition preferably further comprises a topical carrier for the liquid polyol fatty acid polyester and solid oil combination. The composition provides effective emolliency and aesthetic benefits.
