    Abstract: An elevator system including an elevator car mounted for movement adjacent to an external wall of the building. Precipation and rain shield members automatically close the running space between the elevator car and building car responsive to opening movement of the elevator car doors. Closing movement of the elevator car doors return the shield members to retracted positions.
