  • Patent number: 6418958
Abstract: A solid chemical feed system, preferably including two feed bowls, comprises a quantity of solid chemicals that dissolve upon immersion in water to form a liquid solution. A sump is provided to receive liquid solution from the feed bowls, the liquid solution with additive chemicals being used as a treatment for cooling towers, boilers, or other industrial processes to inhibit corrosion and rust. The feed system comprises a valve system that is controlled by a sensor that detects the conductivity of the liquid solution to alternatingly switch the introduction of liquid solution from one feed bowl to the other feed bowl. As such, upon depletion of chemical feed in one bowl, desired treatment will continue and the empty bowl may be replaced without disruption of liquid solution supply.

  • Patent number: 6238557
Abstract: First and second quill members introduce water treatment chemicals to a water stream advancing within water containing equipment having only a single opening. The first quill member extends through a sealed opening on a wall of the equipment and has a first inlet located outside of the equipment, a first outlet located within the equipment in the path of the advancing water stream, and a first passage extending between the first and second inlets. The second quill member is mounted on the first quill member and has a second inlet located outside of the equipment and a second outlet located within the equipment in the path of the advancing water stream. The second outlet is spaced from the first outlet and a second passage, coaxial with the first, extends between the second inlet and the second outlet.

  • Patent number: 5368775
Abstract: A corrosion control composition and method for boiler/condensate steam systems is provided. Corrosion is controlled by the addition to the feedwater of a relatively high molecular weight amine. The high molecular weight amine is formulated so that at the conditions of temperature and pressure in the boiler/condensate steam system, partial degradation into more volatile amines occurs. The resulting blend of neutralizing amines provides the superior corrosion control of a blend of neutralizing amines from a single amine feed. The preferred high molecular weight amine is dimethylaminopropylamine which will partially degrade into dimethylamine, trimethylamine, methylamine, and dimethylaminopropanol.

  • Patent number: 5256311
Abstract: An improved oxygen scavenger for aqueous mediums is disclosed which is a hydroxyalkylhydroxylamine. The material may be catalyzed with a compound such as copper, hydroquinone, benzoquinone, 1,2-naphthoquinone-4-sulfonic acid, pyrogallol and t-butylcatechol. Hydroxyalkyl substituted hydroxyalmines of the general formula HO-N-[CH.sub.2 --CH(OH)--R].sub.2 wherein R is H or C.sub.1 to C.sub.10 alkyl have been found to be effective oxygen scavengers for aqueous systems such as industrial water system.
