Abstract: A medical implement dispenser and disposal system is provided. The medical implement dispenser and disposal system comprises an enclosure having a body portion. A dispensing chamber within the body portion is configured to contain medical implements. A collection chamber within the body portion above the dispensing chamber is configured to collect soiled medical implements. The body portion defines an access opening positioned for passage of medical implements from the dispensing chamber and an inlet opening positioned for passage of soiled medical implements into the collection chamber, wherein the access opening is oriented in a forward facing direction and the inlet opening is also oriented in the forward facing direction. A barrier is positioned within the body portion to separate the dispensing chamber from the collection chamber. The barrier limits the passage of soiled medical implements from the collection chamber to the dispensing chamber.

Abstract: A phlebotomy needle is disclosed which includes structure to facilitate visualization of flashback. In one embodiment, a central portion of the needle includes a hole or opening which communicates with a flow channel defined by the needle and a transparent housing is positioned about the opening to facilitate visualization of blood flow through the needle. A material which allows passage of air and provides an indication of blood flow through the needle is positioned over the opening. In one embodiment, the material is in the form of a plug or, alternately, in the form of a patch or collar. The material can be encased in or provide a window in the transparent housing. In another embodiment, the phlebotomy needle includes a needle and a housing having a passive vent and a viewing region for visualizing blood flow in the housing.

Abstract: A device for dilating nasal passageway which includes a resilient bar having pads on opposite ends for insertion into respective nasal passageways and the bar when bent causes a biasing outward force on the pads to dilate the anterior section of the nasal cavity with said bar having notches thereon which can be selectively cut to reduce the bearing force on the pads.

Abstract: A device for allowing visual examination of the swallowing of fluids by an infant which includes a nipple mounted housing, a feeding tube for feeding fluid into the nipple, openings in the nipple to allow the fluid to pass or be sucked therethrough, a further opening centrally located in the nipple through which an endoscope is passed to allow for such visual examination.
