Patent number: 12240453Abstract: A computer is programmed to, in response to a navigation feature being active for a route, prompt an operator of the vehicle to activate a driver-assist feature of the vehicle. For example, the computer can output a message via a user interface indicating that the driver-assist feature is available to be used. The computer is further programmed to receive an input indicating a destination, determine the route for the vehicle from a current location of the vehicle to the destination, and activate the navigation feature to output guidance instructing the operator to follow the route.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 2022Date of Patent: March 4, 2025Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Andrew Denis Lewandowski, Jordan Barrett, Brendan Francis Diamond, Keith Weston, Anthony Maraldo

Patent number: 12215984Abstract: A system examines a current route to determine if one or more instances of off-road travel exist providing an alternative path for reaching a route destination. The system determines that characteristics of a vehicle meet parameters associated with at least one of the instances of off-road travel. Also, the system, responsive to the determining that the characteristics meet the parameters, provides a driver with indication of an alternative route across the instance of off-road travel, including any payment necessary to use the instance of off-road travel. The system, responsive to driver selection of the instance of off-road travel, negotiates payment for usage of the instance of off-road travel and, responsive to negotiating payment, changes the current route to include the instance of off-road travel. The system also provides digital permissions for the vehicle to travel on the instance of off-road travel.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 2022Date of Patent: February 4, 2025Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Anthony Maraldo, Brendan F. Publication number: 20240403989Abstract: A system determines a location of a specific vehicle in a dealer lot, responsive to a request for the specific vehicle received from a device of a user. The system also determines a current location of the user and, responsive to the user location being within a predefined proximity of the location of the specific vehicle, wirelessly instructs the specific vehicle to utilize a first vehicle external output to signal the user.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 1, 2023Publication date: December 5, 2024Inventors: Brendan F. Diamond, Anthony Maraldo, Keith Weston, Michael Alan McNees

Patent number: 12136344Abstract: A fleet management system is disclosed. The system may include a transceiver configured to receive parking facility attributes associated with a parking facility and vehicle information associated with each vehicle in a vehicle fleet. The parking facility attributes may include parking resource locations in the parking facility and a parking resource availability information. The vehicle information may include a vehicle operational status and a future expected vehicle usage information. The system may further include a processor configured to determine a parking resource for each vehicle based on the parking facility attributes and the vehicle information. The transceiver may transmit a notification to each vehicle including a location of the determined parking resource and associated time period for parking resource usage.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2022Date of Patent: November 5, 2024Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Brendan Diamond, Anthony Maraldo, Stuart C. Salter, Keith Weston, Ryan O'Gorman

Publication number: 20240166271Abstract: A vehicle includes one or more actuatable mudflap portions provided to the vehicle, capable of deployment and retraction to respectively increase and decrease deflection of wheel-spray and receives vehicle sensor information indicating driving conditions. The vehicle examines the sensor information to determine the presence of a first condition predefined as suitable for deployment of at least one of the mudflap portions. Further, the vehicle examines the sensor information to determine that no one or more of second conditions predefined as blocking deployment are met and, responsive to the presence of the first condition and the absence of the second conditions, automatically deploys the at least one mudflap portion.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 21, 2022Publication date: May 23, 2024Inventors: Brendan F. Diamond, Courtney Wright, Anthony Maraldo, David Michael Russell, Keith Weston

Publication number: 20240059284Abstract: A vehicle can operate on a roadway for which a default lane is defined. Upon determining that the vehicle is currently operating on the roadway for which the default lane is defined, a lane override command to select a target lane other than the default lane can be determined based on prior lane selections in the vehicle. A vehicle component can be actuated based on the target lane override command.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 22, 2022Publication date: February 22, 2024Applicant: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Andrew Denis Lewandowski, Brendan Francis Diamond, Jordan Barrett, Keith Weston, Anthony Maraldo

Publication number: 20230055958Abstract: The disclosure generally pertains to systems and methods to repossess a vehicle. In an example method, a first computer sends to a second computer, a message pertaining to a notice of delinquency of a vehicle-related payment. The message includes a request to an individual, such as a purchaser or a lessee of the vehicle, to acknowledge receipt of the message. The first computer may be associated with a financing agency (a bank or a lender) and the second computer may be a vehicle computer of the vehicle or a smartphone owned by the individual. When an acknowledgement is not received within a reasonable period of time, the first computer may disable a functionality of a component of the vehicle or may place the vehicle in a lockout condition. The lockout condition may be lifted momentarily in case of an emergency to allow the vehicle to travel to a medical facility.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 20, 2021Publication date: February 23, 2023Applicant: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Anthony Maraldo, Brendan Diamond, Keith Weston, Michael Alan Mcnees
