  • Publication number: 20230210042
Abstract: A planter system includes a seeder assembly including a seed meter configured to dispense groups of seeds at intervals through a seed tube. The planter system also includes a sensor configured to transmit a first detection signal upon detection of a first seed passing through the seed tube and a second detection signal upon detection of a second seed passing through the seed tube. A control system is configured to compare a time between the first and second detection signals to a threshold time; determine that the first seed and the second seed are in a single group of seeds when the time between the first and second detection signals is less than the threshold time; and determine that the first seed and the second seed are in different groups of seeds if the time between the first and second detection signals is greater than the threshold time.

  • Publication number: 20230138141
Abstract: A planter system for planting seeds and spraying fluid includes a seeder assembly including a seed tube and a conveyor apparatus configured to propel or carry the seed through the seed tube. The planter system also includes a sensor configured to transmit a detection signal upon detection of the seed passing a detection location. The planter system also includes a control system configured to determine a travel time of the seed from the detection location to a furrow based on a baseline drop time for the seed, a baseline travel speed of the seeder assembly, and an operating travel speed of the seeder assembly. The control system is configured to transmit a control signal to a valve coupled to a nozzle assembly based on the travel time and the detection signal to spray the fluid on or adjacent the seed.

  • Patent number: 11589498
Abstract: A planter system for planting seeds and dispensing a fluid includes a seeder assembly including a seed meter configured to dispense a group of seeds through a seed tube, a nozzle assembly configured to dispense the fluid in response to receiving a control signal, and a sensor configured to transmit detection signals upon detection of the first and last seeds passing through the seed tube. The planter system further includes a control system communicatively coupled to the sensor to receive the detection signals from the sensor and identify a trigger time based on the detection time of the first seed, the detection time of the last seed, or a time between the detection times. The control system transmits the control signal to the nozzle assembly based on a number of seeds in the group and the trigger time to apply the fluid on or adjacent the group of seeds.

  • Patent number: 10729123
Abstract: A spraying system for spraying a fluid includes a nozzle, a valve configured to control fluid flow through the nozzle, a sensor configured to transmit a detection signal upon detection of a target, a user interface configured to receive application rate information and target population information from an operator, and a control system communicatively coupled to the user interface, the sensor, and the valve. The control system is configured to determine a specific volume of fluid per target to be dispensed by the valve based on the application rate information and the target population information input to the user interface, and to transmit a control signal to the valve at least in part in response to receiving the detection signal. The control signal actuates the valve such that the determined specific volume of fluid per target is sprayed by the nozzle on or adjacent to the target.
