  • Patent number: 7334621
Abstract: A process and equipment for manufacture of a swab article is provided wherein a stick is placed onto a conveyor, adhesive is applied to one or both ends of the stick, a portion of cotton coil is attached to the adhesive bearing end, and a shaper bar or similar means forces the cotton to assume a teardrop profile by applying force parallel to the stick, wherein the shaper bar or similar means moves in a direction perpendicular to the stick at a different rate of speed than that of the stick. Differences in the rate of speed reduce tailing of cotton normally associated with drag.

  • Patent number: 7221142
Abstract: A combined toroid/shunt device for detecting residual current in an electrical installation comprising a plurality of conductors such as a live conductor (2) and a neutral conductor (3) is described. The device comprises a toroid means (1, 4) for detecting an AC residual current within a first range and a plurality of resistive shunts (6a) to (6d) for connection in respective ones of the plurality of conductors. A current detection means (5, 7, 13) responsive to current flowing in each of said shunts for detecting a DC residual current and/or an AC residual current within a second range is described. The first range of AC residual current is an AC residual current resulting from earth leakage or cross-leakage between conductors up to a saturation level at which the toroid or electronic means associated means therewith becomes saturated. The second range includes an AC residual current of said saturation level.

  • Patent number: 7121347
Abstract: A method and an apparatus raise samples of liquid such as water from a low level to a higher level, for example for obtaining a sample of groundwater from a borehole. The apparatus comprises a pair of tubes (14 and 16) extending alongside each other, which are introduced into the borehole, linked by a connector (20) at their lower end, a valve (22) communicating between the inside and outside of one of the tubes (16) near its lower end, and a pig (46) insertable into the tube (16). By adjusting the pressure in each tube at their upper end, the pig (46) can be moved from one end to the other of the apparatus (10) and used to transfer samples of water.

  • Patent number: 6875444
Abstract: A test kit and method for visualizing fine lines and wrinkles is provided, the kit including a transparent strip with an adhesive on one surface thereof and an imaging substrate with at least one darkened glossy area for receiving the transparent strip. Written instructions are provided in the kit. These advise a consumer to place the adhesive surface of the strip against a skin area requiring measurement. Thereafter the strip is removed and placed against the darkened area of the substrate. Topographical features of the skin can be viewed through the transparent strip with the transferred skin image onto the blackened background. A cosmetic anti-aging product can be applied to the skin over a period of time. Beneficial changes caused by the product are visualized through the test strip as periodic measurements are taken.
