  • Patent number: 7518828
Abstract: A data storage diskette is disclosed. The diskette includes a housing and a media disk enclosed within the housing. The housing includes a base and a cover mated to the base. In this regard, the base defines an exterior surface that includes a base shutter zone that defines a base window, a drive zone that defines a drive window, and a base rib separating the base shutter zone from the drive zone, where the drive zone is recessed relative to the base rib; and the cover defines a cover window aligned with the base window.

  • Patent number: 7455525
Abstract: A data storage device is disclosed. The data storage device includes a continuous band, and a memory device assembly disposes within the continuous band. The continuous band defines an internal housing recess formed by opposing sides extending between first and second major surfaces, and an access window formed in one of the first and second major surfaces and communicating with the internal housing recess. In this regard, the memory device assembly is disposed in the internal housing recess, and a flexing of the continuous band exposes a data/power port of the memory device assembly through the access window.

  • Patent number: 7286322
Abstract: A method of presenting a data storage diskette to a user is disclosed. The method includes the steps of providing the diskette and promoting that handwritten indicia be deposited directly onto an information field in labeling the diskette. In this regard, the diskette includes a housing defining first and second housing sections, and an exterior portion of at least one of the housing sections integrally forming the information field.

  • Patent number: 7008208
Abstract: In one embodiment, the invention is directed to an injection molding tool that has improved grounding. The injection molding process creates significant amounts of static electricity in the molten thermoplastic. This static electricity can be more adequately dissipated from the system through the addition of one or more paths to ground. In this manner, a significant reduction in charge passing between the stamper and the mirror block can be achieved. By reducing or eliminating the amount of charge passing between the stamper and the mirror block, erosion of the mirror block can be reduced or avoided.

  • Patent number: 6883661
Abstract: A jewel case 10 for housing at least one piece of recording media is constructed from a blend of resins. The blend includes at least two resins, the first being a stiffer resin and the second, a flexible resin, wherein a clear and flexible jewel case is produced.

  • Patent number: 6729870
Abstract: A multiple cavity injection molding system having at least two single cavity injection molds for forming optical discs. The single cavity injection molds are physically and thermally separated from each other. Each single cavity injection mold has first and second mating portions which are movable between a closed position in which a mold cavity is formed and an open position in which the object is removed from the mold cavity. A resin delivery system is operatively coupled to the first mating portion of each of the single cavity injection molds for delivering resin into each of the two single cavity injection molds, and an ejector system is operatively coupled to the second mating portion of the single cavity injection mold for ejecting the molded disc from the mold cavity.

  • Patent number: 6638692
Abstract: The invention is directed toward techniques for stamping optical data storage disks. A master is first created to include several distinct information regions etched upon a master surface. The master is then used to create one or more stampers. The stampers include a number of distinct stamper regions in locations corresponding to locations of the distinct information regions on the master. The stamper is then used to create a number of first replica disks that include distinct replicated regions. The distinct replicated regions are removed from the first replica disks to define second disks.
