  • Patent number: 6736137
Abstract: The present invention is a protective hooded respirator optimized for both high protection against nuclear, chemical and/or biological agents as well as having a design configuration enabling it to be stored as a highly compact unit. The hood includes a flexible oral-nasal breathing interface interior to the hood. A filter-housing exterior to the hood is fluidly coupled by a single conduit that intakes filtered air during inhalation and exhaled air during exhalation. When in storage, the flexible oral-nasal is folded into a substantially flat configuration.

  • Patent number: 6101732
Abstract: A fixture adapted to set a decklid for an opening to a trunk of an automotive vehicle in an adjusted position such that when the decklid is closed relative to the opening a gap of predetermined width will be established between a side edge of a rim portion of the decklid and an adjacent side edge of the opening. The fixture includes a clamp body having a planar support surface and a clamping surface projecting away from the support surface. A clamp bar is mounted on the support surface of the body for reciprocal movement toward and away from the clamping surface to clamp the rim portion of the decklid and thereby secure the fixture to the decklid. A cam is mounted on the clamp body for moving the clamp bar. A blade is mounted on the clamp bar and extends along the side edge of the rim portion of the decklid. The blade is adapted to contact the edge of the opening when the decklid is closed.

  • Patent number: 6047934
Abstract: A tool holder for holding a tool on a hinge plate of a deck lid of a motor vehicle. The tool holder has a body in the form of a collar made of two separate parts secured together by screws. The body parts cooperate in defining a recess shaped to retain the tool when the body parts are secured together but to release the tool when the body parts are separated. A generally L-shaped bracket projects from the body and, with the body, defines a channel for receiving a flange on the hinge plate. A hanger has a cylinder secured to the bracket. A slide bar mounted in the cylinder moves from a retracted position to an extended position across the channel. In its extended position, the slide bar extends through a hole in the hinge flange to suspend the tool holder. The body of the tool holder also has a magnet for contacting the hinge plate to magnetically hold the tool holder on the hinge plate.

  • Patent number: 4681990
Abstract: An electric switch of the by-pass type having a pair of main fixed contacts insulated from each other which cooperates with a pair of main movable contacts which are insulated from each other is provided with a by-pass switch for electrically connecting and disconnecting the main fixed contacts on which a latch is movably mounted and having a part engageable with a fixed latch engaging element so as positively to lock the by-pass switch in closed position, the latch being operated by an actuator mounted on and movable with the main movable contacts for imparting latching movement to the latch in coordination with opening of the main movable contacts. Conversely the actuator unlatches the latch in coordination with closing movement of the main movable contacts.

  • Patent number: 4146301
Abstract: Splicing of two mating optical fiber ribbons is achieved with a connector comprising a multigrooved substrate with vacuum slots normal to the fiber-receiving grooves and a mating cover. Air drawn through the vacuum slots during the splicing operation holds the exposed ribbon fibers in the grooves to ensure transverse alignment of the fibers for splicing. The cover mounts onto the substrate to lock the fibers in place after they have been axially aligned and abutted. Slots in the cover allow venting to prevent suction buildup under the cover.

  • Patent number: 4142776
Abstract: Two groups of optical communications fibers are optically joined within a single cartridge that receives and abuts two optical fiber ribbon end arrays. A two-piece connector consisting of a substrate with fiber-receiving grooves and a mating cover houses the fibers. In turn two such connectors are contained within the cartridge, either in a tight fit requiring no retaining means or a loose fit requiring set screws to retain the two connectors in abutting relation. Variations of the basic hardware provide both a rearrangeable splice and a permanent splice. Several cartridges may be housed in a fixture to accommodate the several layers of a multi-layer optical fiber ribbon cable.
