  • Publication number: 20240415712
Abstract: The present invention provides an assembly that is configured to assist a user sitting into and/or rising from a wheelchair. In one embodiment, each assembly has a mount configured to affix the housing of a respective assembly to a corresponding first or second arm of the wheelchair. A pivotable arm extends from the housing to a user grip, wherein the pivotable arm is configured to rotate about a longitudinal axis of the housing. A ratchet lock disposed within the housing is configured to engage the pivotable arm extending from the housing and provide the pivotable arm with at least three locking positions, and a linkage is configured to selectively disengage the ratchet lock upon user activation. Rotation of the pivotable arms allows the user grip to rotate from a raised position, an outer position or a lowered position. In another embodiment, the assembly is integrated into the arm tube of the wheelchair.

  • Patent number: 11786424
Abstract: The present invention provides an assembly having a wheelchair and a wheelchair rigging receptacle. The wheelchair may include an appendage support rigging that is releasably affixed to the frame and configured to support a user's appendage, e.g. foot, when in use. The assembly also provides at least one receptacle configured to retain the appendage support rigging within, when the appendage support rigging is not affixed to the frame. The receptacle may comprise two opposing flexible side walls, a rear wall extending between the side walls, and a bottom extending between a lower edge of the walls to define an interior cavity between an inner surface of the wall and the base that has a width approximately equal to a width of the appendage support rigging. The receptacle also includes at least one mounting device to affix the receptacle to the anti-tip bar of the wheelchair at the rear of the seating surface.

  • Patent number: 7996937
Abstract: The formation of wrinkles in bed sheets used on mattresses of the type having elevated side bolsters and the tendency of the sheets to come off when the mattress is articulated are reduced through the use of a fitted sheet having conforming pockets receiving the side bolsters. Stabilization of the upper sheet surface by the pockets is augmented in some embodiments through use of a stitch line placed along a seam on the inside of the pockets and/or by un-pocketed spans of the upper surface of the sheet connecting directly to an elastically retained skirt.
