Patent number: 11889146Abstract: In situations where a receiver, rendering a content, switches from a first transport stream carrying that content to a second transport stream carrying that same content, artefacts may occur on the rendered content while transitioning between both transport streams. Considering transport stream data of a transport stream signal may be available at a nominal frequency higher than a frequency corresponding to the transport stream bitrate, there may be some periods of time during which no data is present in the transport stream signal. A salient idea is to switch from the first transport stream signal to the second transport stream signal in such periods during which there is no transport stream valid data in the first transport stream signal, allowing to minimize the risks of perceptible defects in the rendered content throughout the switching.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 2020Date of Patent: January 30, 2024Assignee: INTERDIGITAL MADISON PATENT HOLDINGS, SASInventors: Anthony Pesin, Abdullah Haskou, Ali Louzir, Jean-Yves Le Naour

Patent number: 11509514Abstract: A method for processing a stream of data represented by a plurality of symbols associated with a constellation. The method includes applying a symbol constellation extension projection to at least one of the plurality of symbols, the symbol constellation extension projection having an outward angular region, the outward angular region defined by a value of an angle, and the value of the angle equal to or less than an angular distance between two symbols in the constellation. The value of the angle is based on a constellation and a code rate used for encoding and transmitting the stream of data.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 2020Date of Patent: November 22, 2022Assignee: InterDigital Madison Patent Holdings, SASInventors: Loic Fontaine, Anthony Pesin

Patent number: 10587443Abstract: A method and apparatus for receiving a reduced peak to average power ratio signal is disclosed. The method includes receiving a signal, the signal being processed prior to transmission to reduce peak to average power ratio, determining a processing mode used to reduce the peak to average power ratio of the received signal, and reducing the amplitude level for a portion of the received signal using constant modulus clipping if the processing mode includes a two-dimensional constellation extension. The apparatus includes a processing circuit that receives a signal, the signal being processed prior to transmission to reduce peak to average power ratio, and a limiter circuit that determines a processing mode used to reduce the peak to average power ratio of the received signal and reduces the amplitude level for a portion of the received signal using constant modulus clipping if the processing mode includes a two-dimensional constellation extension.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2016Date of Patent: March 10, 2020Assignee: INTERDIGITAL CE PATENT HOLDINGSInventors: Anthony Pesin, Loic Fontaine

Patent number: 10097394Abstract: A broadcast TV signal is a DVB-T2 based system. A DVB-T2 transmitter checks OFDM symbols before transmission to determine a level of adjacent channel interference (ACI). If the of level of ACI is too high, i.e., above a threshold value, the OFDM symbols are filtered before transmission. Otherwise, the OFDM symbols are transmitted without filtering. A filtering field is added to an LI pre-signaling table of the broadcast DVB-T2 signal to signal a DVB-T2 receiver when the received OFDM symbols have been filtered.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 2015Date of Patent: October 9, 2018Assignee: INTERDIGITAL CE PATENT HOLDINGSInventors: John Sidney Stewart, Loic Fontaine, Anthony Pesin
