  • Patent number: 9664506
Abstract: The present invention is an improved fiber optic sensing system (FOSS) having the ability to provide both high spatial resolution and high frequency strain measurements. The inventive hybrid FOSS fiber combines sensors from high acquisition speed and low spatial resolution Wavelength-Division Multiplexing (WDM) systems and from low acquisition speed and high spatial resolution Optical Frequency Domain Reflection (OFDR) systems. Two unique light sources utilizing different wavelengths are coupled with the hybrid FOSS fiber to generate reflected data from both the WDM sensors and OFDR sensors operating on a single fiber optic cable without incurring interference from one another. The two data sets are then de-multiplexed for analysis, optionally with conventionally-available WDM and OFDR system analyzers.

  • Patent number: 9074921
Abstract: The invention proposed herein is a system and method for measuring the liquid level in a container that employs an optic fiber sensor which is heated using a simple power source and a wire and making an anemometry measurement. The heater wire is cycled between two levels of heat and the liquid level is obtained by measuring the heat transfer characteristics of the surrounding environment.

  • Publication number: 20100183773
Abstract: A package assembly includes a container that is configured for expansion in a generally vertical direction between a collapsed state and an extended state. The container includes a sidewall having a first axial end portion and an oppositely disposed second axial end portion. The sidewall is vertically compressed in the collapsed state and configured for expansion in a generally vertical direction to the extended state. A base portion is engaged with the first axial end portion of the sidewall. The base portion and the sidewall cooperatively define an interior region having an opening. A cover is engaged with the second axial end portion of the sidewall. The cover is configured for covering the opening to the interior region during cooking or heating.

  • Patent number: 7302982
Abstract: A label applicator including a support surface having a central area and curving downwardly from the central area. A post assembly extends up from the central area such that a label having a label through-hole can be positioned in a support position generally on the support surface with the post assembly extending up through the label through-hole and an adhesive face of the label facing up. Thereby an article having an article through-hole can be positioned over the post assembly so that a flat surface of the article can be pressed and guided against the adhesive face of the positioned label. The curved surface flattens out as the article is pressed down, allowing the label to be smoothly applied to the article. Pins extending up adjacent to the support surface engage in notches on the label and help hold the label in place.
