  • Patent number: 11959906
Abstract: A time-ordered series of measurements of a polymer made during translocation of the polymer through a Nanopore are analysed. The measurements are dependent on the identity of k-mers in the Nanopore, a k-mer bring k polymer units of the polymer, where k is a positive integer. The method involves deriving, from the series of measurements, a feature vector of time-ordered features representing characteristics of the measurements; and determining similarity between the derived feature vector and at least one other feature vector.

  • Patent number: 11921103
Abstract: A sequence of polymer units in a polymer (3), eg. DNA, is estimated from at least one series of measurements related to the polymer, eg. ion current as a function of translocation through a nanopore (1), wherein the value of each measurement is dependent on a k-mer being a group of k polymer units (4). A probabilistic model, especially a hidden Markov model (HMM), is provided, comprising, for a set of possible k-mers: transition weightings representing the chances of transitions from origin k-mers to destination k-mers; and emission weightings in respect of each k-mer that represent the chances of observing given values of measurements for that k-mer. The series of measurements is analysed using an analytical technique, eg. Viterbi decoding, that refers to the model and estimates at least one estimated sequence of polymer units in the polymer based on the likelihood predicted by the model of the series of measurements being produced by sequences of polymer units.

  • Publication number: 20210038970
Abstract: A set of printed lottery cards using a symbol pool of from 6 to 16 symbols, in this example 9 symbols to be randomly drawn at the end of the lottery. Each card has two matrices of 3×3 cells each displaying a set of 9 differing symbols on each card, and has an area for recording the sequence of the numbers drawn, and an area for recording the total number of links achieved across the two matrices. This example shows the resulting links on each matrix after all numbers have been drawn. By printing two or more matrices per card, the total of number of links per card is additive but the number of possible permutations increases dramatically. These cards can be printed on demand at State Lottery retail outlets or pre-printed and used as “scratch and win” cards.

  • Publication number: 20200334944
Abstract: Apparatus for playing a game has a set of cards. Each card has at least one matrix of m cells displaying a set of n differing symbols on each card, the layout of the symbols differing from matrix to matrix on the cards with each symbol appearing once on each matrix. In play, the symbols a random process is used to rank the symbols and the ranking of each symbol on a card is recorded. Adjacent symbols having sequential rankings are recognized by displaying links between these cells. Play continues until all symbols in the matrix have been ranked. Single play or multi-player games can be conducted with these cards as well as the sale of “scratch and win” cards.

  • Patent number: 10574277
Abstract: The present invention teaches a system and method for improved signal recovery for range and coverage extension in a heterogeneous cooperative network of digital chaos transmissions with OFDM component signal transmission. The invention improves upon the state of art in side channel information from the transmit side containing information on the clipped amplitude. In-band transmission of the side information is achieved by exploiting the sparsity of the resulting clip amplitude position with improved levels of compression over the prior art using Gabor Transform Multiple Symbol Encoding transmitter. The information rate of the clipped amplitude is sub-Nyquist relative to the original OFDM component signal transmission, which allows very low power spreading by a cooperative digital chaos sequences at a transmit side and recovery of the clipped amplitude at a receive side. Further, an improved noise resistance side channel performance is achieved by decoding Gabor Transform symbols for symbol recovery.

  • Patent number: 10177853
Abstract: Concepts, systems and methods are provided herein for generating encoded binomial pulse position modulation (BPPM) signals having random, sparse sets of multiple pulses per channel usage interval for use in Free-Space Optical (FSO) communications. A data symbol can be modulated into a set of BPPM pulses for transmission over a FSO channel and a signal can be generated having the set of BPPM pulses over a predetermined time interval. The BPPM pulses can be encoded into one or more codewords based on a number of error correction bits to form a coded signal using the one or more codewords to represent the signal having the set of pulses for transmission over the free-space optical channel. The coded signal can be filtered and sampled to generate a set of samples. Position and amplitude data for the samples can be determined to reconstruct and decode the coded signal.
