  • Publication number: 20110126325
Abstract: The present invention relates to enzymes which possess hydroxylase activity, in particular 42 hydroxylase activity, that can be used in methods of synthesizing modified fatty acids.
    Type: Application
    Filed: April 24, 2009
    Publication date: May 26, 2011
Inventors: Xue-Rong Zhou, Surinder Pal Singh, Allan Green, Anthony Richard Ashton, Andrew John William Rodgers, Geoffrey John Dumsday, Florian Hans Maximilian Graichen
  • Patent number: 7892803
Abstract: The invention relates generally to isolated leucoanthocyanidin reductase LAR polypeptides of the Reductase-Epimerase-Dehydrogenase (RED) protein family, and nucleic acid molecules encoding same and their use in regulating the biosynthesis and accumulation of proanthocyanidins in plants. The invention is further directed to isolated nucleic acid molecules of plants which encode leucoanthocyanidin reductases of the RED protein family. The isolated polypeptides and nucleic acid molecules of the present invention are useful for modifying the pasture quality of legumes, and, in particular, for producing bloat-safe forage crops. or crops having enhanced nutritional value, enhanced disease resistance or pest resistance, or enhanced malting qualities.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 13, 2007
Date of Patent: February 22, 2011
Assignee: Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation
Inventors: Gregory John Tanner, Anthony Richard Ashton, Sharon Abrahams, John McRae Watson, Philip John Larkin, Katarzyna Teresa Francki
  • Publication number: 20080311580
Abstract: This inventions provides an isolated protein or polypeptide having activity in the synthesis of proanthocyanidin (PA) polymer from epicatechin or catechin in plants, and which is not naturally regulated by the TT2 or TT8 regulators, or a fragment comprising at least about 10 contiguous amino acids derived from said protein or polypeptide, particularly TDS1, TDS2, TDS3, TDS4, TDS5, or TDS6 protein, or fragment thereof. Also provided are nucleic acid encoding such proteins or polypeptides; plant cells and plants containing and expressing such nucleic acids; antibodies that bind to such proteins or polypeptides; and related methods.
    Type: Application
    Filed: January 28, 2008
    Publication date: December 18, 2008

  • Patent number: 5854420
Abstract: Clones are disclosed comprising at least part of a DNA sequence of a gene encoding maize acetyl CoA carboxylase, or a sequence showing substantial homology therewith, flanked by heterologous DNA. DNA from such clones may be used to isolate similar sequences in other plants. Such sequences may be used to transform plants to give a variety of useful effects, including resistance to herbicides such as fluazifop, and modified oil-bearing properties.
