  • Patent number: 8627579
Abstract: Apparatus and methodology for applying heated-air flow to wet or damp copper cable and specifically to individual mutually-insulated copper conductors within that cable including their respective paper sheath coverings. This cable can be used in telecommunications applications. Disclosed embodiments permit drying of difficult to reach wet/damp areas within a cable and between and amongst layers of wet/damp cable. A heat gun muzzle-insert attaches, at one end, to a heat gun barrel's muzzle end to extend hot air flow from the gun through the insert and through a plurality of tubes attached to its other end, This allows air flow to be pin-pointed at wet/damp areas otherwise not reachable without the tubes. The muzzle-insert attaches via threaded connection and is made from the same material as the gun to have the same thermal expansion characteristic. The hot air flow extender mechanisms can be modularized, each ha mg differently-sized pluralities of tubes.

  • Publication number: 20070029810
Abstract: A low-cost combination tilt-lock-latch mechanism for a sliding window that combines ease of installation and adjustment with simplicity of use. The mechanism includes at least one tilt-latch mechanism adapted for mounting in the window sash. The tilt-latch mechanism includes a housing and a plunger having a latch bolt portion retractable within the housing. A plunger latch member automatically latches the plunger in a retracted position to enable tilting of the sash. Further, the mechanism may include an actuator mechanism and a flexible linking member. The tilt-latch may include a locking member adjustable from outside the housing of the tilt latch, to lock the flexible linking member to the plunger, thereby operably coupling the actuator mechanism with the tilt-latch.

  • Publication number: 20060244269
Abstract: An automatic window fastener for use in securing a window having a window sash and a window frame is disclosed. An illustrative window fastener may include a housing body, a lever coupled to the housing body, an actuator mechanism operatively coupled to the lever and actuatable between an unlocked position and a locked position, and a keeper mechanism. During operation, the lever can be configured to rotate and tilt outwardly away from the housing body, providing the user with a visual indicator that the window fastener is in an unlocked position. The actuator assembly can include a number of components that prevent the window fastener from being picked by an intruder. Window locking systems employing one or more window fasteners are also described herein.

  • Publication number: 20060244270
Abstract: An automatic tilt latch mechanism for use in securing a window to a window frame is disclosed. An illustrative tilt latch mechanism in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention may include a central operator having a tilt latch actuator assembly, at least one tilt latch assembly actuatable between a locked position and an unlocked position, and a rod operatively connecting the tilt latch actuator assembly to the at least one tilt latch assembly. The central operator may comprise a stand-alone unit, or may further include a window fastener actuator assembly that can be used to lock the window sash to the window frame, if desired.

  • Patent number: 6848728
Abstract: A window fastener for controlling the locking and unlocking of a window is disclosed. The fastener provides an unlocking feature that is manually activated by the user and a locking feature that is automatically activated as the window is moved substantially proximate to the closed position. The unlocking feature disengages the fastener from the window and maintains disengagement so that further manipulation of the fastener is not required to facilitate window opening. The fastener also provides a positive confirmation feature that informs the user that the window is either closed and locked or open and unlocked.
