Publication number: 20130324122Abstract: A wireless apparatus including a machine-to-machine (M2M) device. The M2M device has an applications processing element, RF transceive elements, and a deep sleep controller. The applications processing element executes one or more functions corresponding to an M2M processing environment, and directs the transmission and reception of radio frequency (RF) messages. The RF transceive elements are operationally coupled to the applications processing elements and transmit and receive the RF messages over the one or more wireless communications links. The deep sleep controller is coupled to the applications processing element and the RF transceive elements, and directs the applications processing element to request a sleep time from a corresponding base station, and causes the M2M device to enter a deep sleep mode upon acceptance of the sleep time by the corresponding base station, where the deep sleep mode is entered by removing power from the RF transceive elements.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 4, 2013Publication date: December 5, 2013Inventors: Anthony S. Publication number: 20130250854Abstract: A mobile station for notification of a circuit switched event. The mobile station includes a circuit switched modem, a packetized data modem, a radio, and a tune away controller. The circuit switched communicates circuit switched data over a circuit switched network. The packetized data modem communicates packetized data over a packetized data network. The radio couples the packetized data modem to the packetized data network via a packetized data radio link, and couples the circuit switched modem to the circuit switched network via a circuit switched radio link. Only one of the links may be active at a time. Patent number: 8081591Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system are disclosed providing improved paging procedures in a wireless communication system. In one embodiment, a Power-down Registration signal is transmitted via a 1×RTT modem from an Access Terminal (AT) to an Access Network (AN) in a wireless communication system that includes both a 1×RTT modem and a 1×HRPD modem. The Power-down Registration signal conveys information to the AN indicating that a power-down process has been initiated by the AT, and thereby enables the AN to discontinue transmission of signals and messages to the AT that are not effective when the AT is in an off-state.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 2008Date of Patent: December 20, 2011Assignee: VIA Telecom Co., Ltd.Inventors: Satyaprasad Srinivas, Anthony S. Patent number: 7079253Abstract: A tracking stage has an optical filter with a free spectral range greater than the maximum mode hop of a tunable laser. The free spectral range is sufficient to determine the wavelength of the laser output after the mode hop. The output is dithered or a quadrature signal is used to determine whether the mode hop is forwards or backwards. In a further embodiment, a second tracking stage with a shorter free spectral range is coupled to the tunable laser to provide enhanced wavelength resolution. Alternatively, the second tracking stage is omitted and the signal of the tracking stage is amplified to enhance wavelength resolution.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 2003Date of Patent: July 18, 2006Assignee: Agilent Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Michael B. Patent number: 6424416Abstract: Percentage concentrations of constituents or color components of a sample are determined using a spectral analyzer with a wide illumination spot size and detector. The analyzer irradiates the sample, picks up diffuse reflectance of individual wavelengths from the sample and spatially separates the diffuse reflectance into a response at individual wavelengths. The result is to simultaneously detect the intensities of the individual wavelengths in parallel from the sample being analyzed. Percentage constituents of a composite substance can be determined or, alternatively, the components of color in a sample can be determined by analyzing wavelengths of reflected light.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 1999Date of Patent: July 23, 2002Assignee: Textron Systems CorporationInventors: Erich R. Gross, Anthony S. Lee
