  • Publication number: 20240079146
Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for rapid generation of simulations of a patient's spinal morphology that enable pre-operative viewing of a patient's condition and to assist surgeons in determining the best corrective procedure and with any of the selection, augmentation or manufacture of spinal devices based on the patient specific simulated condition. The simulation is generated by morphing a generic spine model with a three-dimensional curve representation of the patient's particular spinal morphology derived from existing images of the patient's condition.

  • Publication number: 20230075422
Abstract: The present invention provides inhibitors of fucosylation during protein expression from mammalian cells. The inhibitors are derived from rhamnose and act by inhibition of GDP-mannose 4,6-dehydratase (GMD). The invention further provides methods of making proteins with reduced level of fucosylation, such as antibodies and antibodies made by the methods of the present invention. Such hypofucosylated or nonfucosylated antibodies may find use, for example, in treatment of human disease in which is it therapeutically eneficial to direct antibody dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) mediated killing of cells expressing the antibody target on their surface, for example in depletion of Tregs in cancer patients using a hypofucosylated or nonfucosylated anti-CTLA-4 antibody.

  • Publication number: 20130020754
Abstract: A sheet separator and apparatus utilizing the same for separating media sheets in an image forming device. The apparatus includes a supporting member for supporting a stack of media sheets, a pick assembly to pick media sheets and to feed the media sheets to a processing assembly of the image forming device, and a media dam having at least one sheet separator. Each sheet separator includes a casing inclined at a predetermined angle to the supporting member, a biasing member and a base member slidable within the casing. A plurality of detents in the form of steps or teeth are provided on a sheet receiving surface of the base member and the biasing member act to separate a top most media sheet from an adjacent media sheet to prevent double feeding of media sheets.

  • Patent number: 7918444
Abstract: A media handling device includes a media shingling mechanism having a roller actuator located adjacent an upper portion of a media stack and upstream thereof relative to a predetermined direction of an uppermost sheet from the stack toward a media restraint dam located downstream thereof. The roller actuator undergoes counterclockwise rotation in response to upward moving contact by successive sheets in the upper portion of the stack against a peripheral segment of the roller actuator as the stack is moved vertically upward in a rectilinear direction toward the roller actuator. The counterclockwise rotation of the roller actuator and upward movement of the upper portion of the stack produces a lateral displacement of successive sheets toward the dam so as to produce shingling of successive sheets of the upper portion of the stack relative to one another, providing a uniform inter-page gap between successive sheets.

  • Publication number: 20090164334
Abstract: A method and online system for recommending gifts to a user, for a gift recipient, includes determining social relational aspects between the giver and gift recipient, determining personality traits of the giver or the recipient and calculating and then displaying to the user one or more recommended gifts for purchase. Personality, occupation and style traits are numerically rated in conjunction with product attributes of a population of potential gifts for accurate calculation of optimized gift recommendations. Gifts are rated by an online community associated with the system. The system may also learn by a feedback loop for successful and unsuccessful predictions of gift desirability, thus resulting in greater gift recommendation accuracy over time.

  • Patent number: 7360611
Abstract: A strainer system having two separate strainers positioned in parallel, where one strainer can be cleaned while still permitting normal flow through the other strainer. The system flow circuit is arranged so that a high pressure backwashing flow can be applied to one strainer while the other strainer is providing its normal straining function. The backwashed strainer is then isolated by valves so that its access flange can be removed and the particulate buildup within the valve plug cleaned out. The strainer is then returned to service following the replacement of the access flange. In this manner, it is possible to alternate between the two strainers so that continuous flow can be maintained to the hydraulic choke located downstream of the strainer system.

  • Patent number: 7275606
Abstract: The invention contemplates a strainer based upon a four-way, two-position rotary cylindrical plug valve having a hollow plug. The normal entry port for the sealing plug of the plug valve is a circular radial hole passing from the exterior of the plug into the interior cavity of the plug. The normal exit port for the sealing plug is a regular array of small holes across from and coaxial with the normal entry hole. The ports for the valve body are in two pairs positioned at 90° from each other, with the axes of the ports lying in the same transverse plane as the ports of the valve plug.

  • Publication number: 20030159840
Abstract: An improved trail groomer apparatus having multiple components arranged in an integrated ensemble is herein disclosed. The preferred embodiments of this trail groomer comprises a rectilinear frame having, arranged in series, a power tiller, a pulverizer assembly and a compacting roller. These functional components turn over the irregular and often hard packed surface of snow and ice, or earth, grind or pulverize it into a fine powder or granule material and thereafter compact it into a smooth, rut-free trail.

  • Patent number: 6467900
Abstract: An inkjet printer having a printhead closely adjacent a platen and a printzone therebetween has first and second juxtaposed counter-rotating feed rolls for transferring recording media from a first location where a media leading edge is located in an entrance nip between the first and second rolls and a second location where a media trailing edge is located in an exit nip between the first and second rolls. Printer control avoids printing to a media free printzone by sensing for the presence of a sheet of recording media within a nip between the primary and secondary feed rolls and selectively enabling and disabling the printer in accordance with the sensed media presence. The transverse dimension of a sheet of recording media may be estimated by multiple sensors and printer carriage travel limited to less than the estimated dimension.

  • Patent number: 5868385
Abstract: Bracket (1) containing a gear train holds the end of spring (19) wound in a direction to be opened when the bracket moves up from the paper tray (7). Spring (19) is wound on an arbor (15) which is mounted on a shaft (9) which is located on the pivot axis of the bracket. Spring (17) is wound on a second part of the arbor in a direction to be closed when the bracket moves away from the tray. Spring (19) has a much tighter grip on the arbor than spring (17). In operation the bracket resists upward movement under the influence of stiff paper being fed, and is slowed in its downward movement to reduce bounce, which increases the speed at which a second sheet can be fed.
