  • Patent number: 9247300
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and systems for displaying content recommendations to a television viewer. In one aspect of the invention, when the user changes channel, the system displays content recommendations to the user before going to the next channel. The recommendations are based on user profiles and/or aggregated multi-user content. In a further aspect, the user can decide on one of the recommendations (or answer a yes/no query) to migrate to the corresponding content.

  • Publication number: 20140038684
Abstract: A method, computer program product, and computing system for identifying four sports teams selected from a plurality of teams included within a sports league, thus defining four selected teams for a first user. Four players selected from the plurality of players included within each of the four selected teams are identified, thus defining sixteen selected players for the first user. A performance score is assigned to each of the sixteen selected players, thus defining sixteen performance scores for the first user. A first overall score for the first user is assigned based, at least in part, upon the sixteen performance scores.

  • Publication number: 20140038700
Abstract: A method, computer program product, and computing system for defining a side bet between a first participant having made a first selection in a lottery game and a second participant having made a second selection in the lottery game, wherein the side bet has a bet value. The first selection is compared to the second selection to identify a winner of the side bet and a loser of the side bet. The bet value is obtained from the loser of the side bet.

  • Publication number: 20140038683
Abstract: A method, computer program product, and computing system for defining a plurality of categories for a sports-themed lottery game. A plurality of players are defined for each of the plurality of categories. A previous season statistics set is identified, wherein the previous season statistics set includes a player performance statistics set for each of the plurality of players. Each player performance statistics set includes a plurality of per-game performance indicators. One or more supplemental season statistic sets are generated by rearranging at least two of the per-game performance indicators included within the previous season statistics set.

  • Patent number: 8527869
Abstract: The invention includes a method and system for personalizing displays of published Web pages provided by Web content providers to meet the interests of Web users accessing the pages, based on profiles of the users. The system preferably provides to the requesting user, through a proxy server, an edited version of the HTML file for the original published Web page that is served by a host Web server. The system uses user profiles that may include demographic and psychographic data to edit the requested Web page. The content of a Web page as published by a host Web server may be coded to correlate components of the Web page with demographic and psychographic data. The user profiles may then be used to filter the content of a coded Web page for delivery to a requesting user. The system may rearrange content on a published Web page so that content determined to be of higher interest to a user is more prominently featured or more easily or quickly accessible.

  • Patent number: 8108245
Abstract: A method and system are provided for accurately and anonymously profiling Web users and for selectively delivering content such as advertisements to users based on their profiles. The system uses behavioral information preferably collected at the users' point of connection to the Internet to anonymously profile their interests and demographics. It accurately matches and delivers content to the users to which they will likely be most receptive. Advertisers can use the system to launch effective advertising campaigns delivering selected Web content to chosen target audiences. The system uses feedback from users to determine the effectiveness of an advertising campaign and allows dynamic modification of the advertising campaign by, e.g., altering the target audience, to optimize results.

  • Patent number: 8069076
Abstract: The present invention is directed to generating audience analytics that includes providing a database containing a plurality of user input pattern profiles representing the group of users of terminal device, in which each user of the group is associated with one of the plurality of user input pattern profiles. A clickstream algorithm, tracking algorithm, neural network, Bayes classifier algorithm, or affinity-day part algorithm can be used to generate the user input pattern profiles. A user input pattern is detected based upon use of the terminal device by the current user and the user input pattern of the current user is dynamically matched with one of the user input pattern profiles contained in the database. The current user is identified based upon dynamic matching of the user input pattern generated by the current user with one of the user input pattern profiles. The present invention processes each user input pattern profile to identify a demographic type.

  • Patent number: 7979880
Abstract: A method for profiling an iTV user. The method comprises gathering user-requested content information from iTV interactions, correlating content-associated profile information from a rating service with the user-requested content information, and developing a profile of the user based on the content-associated profile information correlated with the user-requested content information.

  • Patent number: 7962929
Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for generating viewing recommendations in a television viewing personalization system, including parsing, in accordance with a set of stored processing rules, a stream of command signals generated by a remote control unit in response to control sequences entered into the control unit by a viewer, to generate information representative of the viewer's viewing behavior; and determining, from the generated information, at least one viewing recommendation.

  • Patent number: 7822843
Abstract: A method and system are provided for predicting the behavior of an individual, e.g., one engaged in an on-line session, based on a comparison of the individual's activities during that session with those participated in by multiple other parties. The individual's activities during the session and certain attendant conditions are monitored and compared with a continually updated database that reflects (a) the cumulative activities of all other parties and their attendant conditions and (b) behavioral trends exhibited by those other parties based on their participation in various types of activities under various conditions. When similarities are detected between the individual's activities and their attendant conditions and those of certain other parties, the corresponding behavioral trend of those other parties is attributed to the individual.

  • Patent number: 7222090
Abstract: A method for parsing purchase information from code in a Web page. The method includes detecting at least one known product keyword and at least one product data string following that product keyword and being associated with that product keyword. The product data string can be a descriptor for the product keyword for one product in the purchase. The method also includes detecting at least one known transaction keyword and at least one transaction data string following that transaction keyword and being associated with that transaction keyword, the transaction data string being a descriptor for the transaction keyword. The data type of the descriptors can be checked to determine if they are of the same type as the corresponding product or transaction keyword. These processes can be repeated for all of the data strings in the HTML page, and this detected purchase information can be placed into an organized form.

  • Publication number: 20020099702
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for clustering data inputs into groups. The first data input is initially designated as center of a first group. Each other data input is successively analyzed to identify a group whose center is sufficiently close to that data input. If such a group is identified, the input is assigned to the identified group. If no such group is identified, a new group is created and the data input is designated as the center of the new group. The analysis of data inputs is repeated until all data inputs have been assigned to groups. Optionally, thereafter for optimal performance, for each data input, the closest group center to that input is determined, and the data input is assigned to the group having that center.
