Patent number: 10326349Abstract: A magnet linear actuator includes a first element and an armature situated on a support, with the armature being movable along a movement axis between a first position engaged with the first element and the second position spaced away from the first element along the movement axis. The actuator further includes a biasing element that biases the armature in a direction generally toward the second position. The first element or the armature is pivotable with respect to the other between a first orientation and a second orientation. In the first orientation, the first element and the armature have a first magnetic attraction to one another that is sufficient to overcome the bias of the biasing element and to retain the armature in the first position. In the second orientation, the first element and the armature have either a magnetic repulsion to one another or a weaker second magnetic attraction.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2017Date of Patent: June 18, 2019Assignee: EATON INTELLIGENT POWER LIMITEDInventors: Anthony T. Ricciuti, Mark A. Juds

Publication number: 20150233974Abstract: A meter or display device for at least one power circuit zone. The device includes a processor having a plurality of dynamic inputs, a routine and an output. The routine is structured to input the dynamic inputs, calculate incident energy of one power circuit zone of the at least one power circuit zone, and output the output. A display is structured to display at least the calculated incident energy from the output of the processor.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 18, 2014Publication date: August 20, 2015Applicant: EATON CORPORATIONInventors: JAMES L. Patent number: 8519290Abstract: A non-homogeneous cam includes an eccentric disk having side surfaces with an opening therethrough, and a cam surface disposed between the side surfaces. A first radius extending from a point within the opening to a number of first portions of the cam surface and second radii extending from the point to second portions of the cam surface define the cam surface. The first radius is greater than each of the second radii. The cam surface includes a first cam surface generally having the first radius and a second cam surface having a plurality of the second radii. The first and second cam surfaces define an angle of less than 90 degrees. The eccentric disk is generally made of a first material having a first strength. A portion of the eccentric disk between the first and second cam surfaces is made of a different second material having a greater second strength.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2011Date of Patent: August 27, 2013Assignee: Eaton CorporationInventors: Anthony T. Ricciuti, Daniel E. Palmieri, Patrick C. Wolfe

Patent number: 7586738Abstract: A chimney assembly is provided for an electrical switching apparatus, such as a circuit breaker including a housing and a number of poles. The chimney assembly includes a frame, an intake, a duct and an exhaust. A first side of the frame is coupled to the circuit breaker housing proximate the poles of the circuit breaker, and the intake and exhaust are respectively disposed at first and second ends of the frame. A first portion of the duct is coupled to the circuit breaker housing above the poles, and a second portion is coupled to the first side of the frame. The chimney assembly draws a volume of air through the intake into the circuit breaker housing, circulates the volume of air through the poles of the circuit breaker, and discharges the volume of air out of the circuit breaker housing through the duct and the exhaust.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2008Date of Patent: September 8, 2009Assignee: Eaton CorporationInventors: Ronald D. Patent number: 7075027Abstract: A mechanism assembly is for a vacuum circuit interrupter including a vacuum housing including a stationary contact and a moveable contact, and an operating mechanism including a drive rod. The mechanism assembly cooperates with the drive rod to open and close the contacts. The mechanism assembly includes a housing having a pair of first longitudinal openings and a pair of second longitudinal openings, the first longitudinal openings defining a first plane, the second longitudinal openings defining a different second plane. A first trunnion member is pivotally and translationally mounted with respect to the first longitudinal openings. The first trunnion member is coupled to the moveable contact. A second trunnion member is pivotally and translationally mounted with respect to the second longitudinal openings. The drive rod is pivotally connected to the second trunnion member. A pair of compression springs are biased between the first and second trunnion members.Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 2005Date of Patent: July 11, 2006Assignee: Eaton CorporationInventors: Thomas K. Fogle, Anthony T. Ricciuti, Walter O. Jenkins, James J. Benke

Patent number: 5902974Abstract: A slide bar interlock for interlocking adjacent first and second circuit breakers having dissimilar actuating means and preventing the first and second circuit breakers from simultaneously being in a closed operating position. The slide bar interlock includes a housing and a slide bar received in the housing. The slide bar includes a first end which extends from the housing adjacent to the first circuit breaker and a second end which extends from the housing adjacent to the second circuit breaker. The slide bar is slidable between a first position where the first end of the slide bar blocks operation of a pivoting actuating handle of the first circuit breaker and a second position where the second end of the slide bar maintains a push-to-open button of the push button actuating means of the second circuit breaker in an actuated position.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 1997Date of Patent: May 11, 1999Assignee: Eaton CorporationInventors: Thomas K. Fogle, John J. Henwood, Anthony T. Ricciuti
