  • Publication number: 20250260922
Abstract: This invention involves a novel implementation of a double-tuned bandpass enclosure installed in a motor vehicle. The enclosure contains a woofer or subwoofer emitting sound through a pair of extended ports to two discrete points of acoustic termination. The enclosure includes a primary and a secondary through-hole, in which the primary through-hole originates from a front chamber and secondary originates from a rear chamber. The first through-hole is connected to an elongated port which transmits a portion of the sound into the vehicle passenger compartment at a primary location. A second elongated port is coupled to the secondary through-hole, which transmits a portion of the sound to a second location, separate from the first. The sound emitted at the two locations represent different but complementary frequency responses, thereby creating a quasi-stereo environment.

  • Publication number: 20240253577
Abstract: A compact audio woofer arrangement for a motor vehicle includes an enclosure installed in the motor vehicle. The enclosure contains a woofer or subwoofer emitting a sound. The enclosure includes a primary and secondary through-hole. The primary through-hole allows the woofer to interface with the interior of the vehicle and provides sound directly from the enclosure into a passenger compartment at the primary location. A extended vent acting as an acoustic transmission line is coupled to the second through-hole. The vent transmits sound from the enclosure to a secondary location remote from the primary location, such that the sound is emitted into the adjacent passenger compartment. The primary and secondary acoustic outputs differ by physical location in the motor vehicle, and also by frequency response of the emitted sound, thereby emulating a quasi-stereo environment.

  • Patent number: 8825429
Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided in order to verify the calibration on the fluid handling system. A magnet coupled to the scale is used to attach a precalibrated weight so that a controller in the system can determine if the scale needs to be calibrated. This way a storage tank does not need to be removed in order to check the calibration of the scale. The system can be locked down if the calibration is not within the predetermined calibration tolerance.

  • Publication number: 20050202168
Abstract: A thermal barrier coating (TBC 26) and method for forming the TBC (26) on a component (10) characterized by a stabilized microstructure that resists grain growth, sintering and pore coarsening or coalescence during high temperature excursions. The TBC (26) contains elemental carbon and/or a carbon-containing gas that increase the amount of porosity (32) initially within the TBC (26) and form additional fine closed porosity (32) within the TBC (26) during subsequent exposures to high temperatures. A first method involves incorporating elemental carbon precipitates by evaporation into the TBC microstructure. A second method is to directly incorporate an insoluble gas, such as a carbon-containing gas, into an as-deposited TBC (26) and then partially sinter the TBC (26) to entrap the gas and produce fine stable porosity within the TBC (26).
