  • Patent number: 11965394
Abstract: A method of actuating a subsea tree comprising opening a valve assembly by transferring a first volume of fluid into a first chamber and closing the valve assembly from the open position to a shear position via a gas charged valve actuator in response to the transfer of fluid out of the first chamber. Shearing a workstring positioned within an axial bore of the valve assembly with the valve via the gas charged valve actuator. Closing the valve from the shear position to a closed position with one or more gas charged push rods to isolate the wellbore above from the wellbore below the closed valve. The shearing force generated from the gas charged valve actuator is greater than the closing force of the one or more push rods.

  • Publication number: 20200174990
Abstract: A system and method of accountably redacting selected data from a blockchain, distributed ledger, or other Merkle-Linked (or partial Merkle-Linked) data structure are disclosed. In accordance with some implementations, such a system and method may generally comprise or enable redacting selected elements from a data element and using a proof to show that the redaction was performed correctly; in this manner, it may not be necessary to retain the original version of redacted data element, since the redacted version and the proof are enough to maintain system integrity.

  • Patent number: 9390496
Abstract: Methods and systems for diagnosing a bone disease or other condition related to collagen in a subject are provided. These include providing a bone sample from the subject and determining a quantitative collagen morphology value of the bone sample. A reference value is provided from a non-affected control subject where the reference value is a quantitative collagen morphology value from the same type of bone sample obtained from a population of non-affected control subjects. The quantitative collagen morphology value of the subject's bone sample is compared to the reference value. If the collagen morphology value is altered versus the reference value, the subject is diagnosed as having a collagen related bone disease. The collagen morphology value can include mean fibril spacings and distributions of the fibril spacings taken from a subject's bone sample.

  • Publication number: 20140279369
Abstract: According to one or more disclosed embodiments, a plurality of data inputs are received from a plurality of information sources regarding one or more investment portfolios. Also, a proposed change to at least one of the investment portfolios is received. Then, it is determined whether the proposed change would cause a deviation from one or more guidelines. When the proposed change causes a deviation from the one or more guidelines, the proposed change is rejected. Otherwise, one or more instructions for executing the proposed change are transmitted.

  • Publication number: 20140279370
Abstract: According to one or more disclosed embodiments, a plurality of data inputs is received from a plurality of information sources regarding one or more investment portfolios, and the received plurality of data inputs is processed using a data model. The data derived from the processing of the received plurality of data inputs is then outputted. Also, the outputted data is checked against one or more predetermined guidelines. The data model can thus be continuously optimized in response to the checking of the outputted data against the one or more predetermined guidelines.

  • Patent number: 7382454
Abstract: A greater efficiency and cost-effectiveness is achieved by optically assessing the condition of a gas discharge lamp. Herein, a system and method of optically assessing lamp condition includes measuring the intensity of emitted light within two portions of the emitted spectrum. One portion of the lamp's spectrum is selected such that the intensity of emitted light from that portion remains relatively constant as the lamp ages. The second portion of the lamp's spectrum is selected such that the intensity of the emitted light varies measurably as the lamp ages. A ratio is computed between the two intensities. Comparing this ratio to a reference ratio provides information of the relative present condition (i.e., age) of the lamp being tested. Associating the lamp with location data is a further aspect. Important advantages are the ability to predict relative lamp age, and thus avoid both premature lamp replacement and pre-failure lamp cycling.

  • Publication number: 20060274883
Abstract: An x-ray inspection system. The x-ray inspection system includes an x-ray source, an on-axis x-ray sensor, at least one off-axis x-ray sensor, a fixture, and an accumulation circuit. The on-axis x-ray sensor is configured to capture on-axis images of radiation from the x-ray source. The x-ray source is displaced from the on-axis x-ray sensor, and the x-ray source and the on-axis x-ray sensor are positioned on an axis conceptually drawn between the x-ray source and the on-axis x-ray sensor. At least one off-axis x-ray sensor is configured to capture off-axis images of radiation from the x-ray source, wherein each off-axis x-ray sensor is positioned off the axis. The fixture is configured to maintain an article between the x-ray source and the on-axis and off-axis x-ray sensors, and the accumulation circuit is configured to receive and accumulate images captured by the on-axis and off-axis x-ray sensors.

  • Publication number: 20060122288
Abstract: Monomers (e.g. thinphenes) are caused to polymerise by mixing them with an oxidising agent (and generally a solvent comprising water) and irradiating the mixture with light (visible or UV). Polymer properties can be varied by doping or chemical modification. Uses include sensor elements for assays and electrical components such as electrodes.
