  • Publication number: 20090311442
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for pre-treating fibre reinforced composite plastic materials prior to painting, wherein the materials are subjected to a low pressure cold vacuum gas plasma treatment without preheating the materials. The invention further relates to a method for applying a painting layer on a fibre reinforced composite plastic material, wherein the method comprises the steps of pre-treating the material using a method according to any one of the preceding claims, and subsequently applying the painting layer to the pre-treated material.

  • Publication number: 20060127598
Abstract: The invention relates on the one hand to a method for providing a coating on the surfaces of a product with an open cell structure throughout its structure, in which said coating is provided by means of a plasma polymerisation process. The foam has to be prepared for the plasma polymerisation processes in respect to the specific process. Polymerisation is performed inside the open and semi-open cell structures in a qualitative and homogenious way. On the other hand, the invention relates to the use of a method as described above as a hydrophone, oleophobe, flame retardant and/or barrier coating on the surfaces of an open cell polymer throughout its polymer structure.

  • Publication number: 20030118745
Abstract: Method for preparing the surface of objects made of cork material for printing, in which the objects are subjected to at least one low pressure plasma treatment step. The cork material can be selected from natural cork and synthetic cork, in particular thermoplastic elastomer and/or styrene bloc copolymer. The low pressure plasma comprises a gas or gas mixture selected from O2, N2, NOx, NH3, Ar, He, Ne, CO, CO2, SO2, SO3, CF4 and SF6, at a pressure from 0.01 to 5 mbar. A power supply operating in the KHz, MHz or GHz range is used. The plasma treatment step(s) can be carried out several hours or days before printing the objects made of cork material. The method is applied so as to reach a surface dyne level of at least 50 dynes. The objects can be tumble treated as bulk goods in batches of at least 1000 pieces/batch.
