Abstract: A portable signaling device includes an infrared (IR) emitter held by housing that emits pulses of IR radiation. Processors are operably connected to the IR emitter and sensors monitor the operations of the wearer which receive data parameters from the sensors allowing the processors to generate a status message based on the data parameters that are received. This status message represents the operating status of the wearer, which the IR emitter transmits by emitting pulse sequences of IR radiation that are configured to be received by an IR detector.
