Patent number: 11345531Abstract: A packaging sleeve for retaining a plurality of individually packaged products includes a first sidewall having a first opening that partially receives a first product of the plurality of individually packaged products, as well as a reinforcing biasing beam that exhibits a spring action to bias the first product into the first opening by applying a force to the first product in a direction toward the first opening. The biasing beam includes a first wall and a second wall, with the first wall of the biasing beam contacting and biasing the first product, and the second wall of the biasing beam contacting a second product and biasing the second product into a second opening formed in the sleeve. The biasing beam is convertible between a fully compressed state and a fully expanded state, with the biasing beam being biased to the fully expanded state.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 2019Date of Patent: May 31, 2022Assignee: General Mills, Inc.Inventor: Anthony W Swenson

Patent number: 10954039Abstract: A packaged wet pet food product comprises a flexible container body and an integrated dispenser head for the storing and dispensing of wet pet food, specifically wet cat food or wet dog food. The flexible container body can be manually grasped and squeezed in order to deform the container body and force wet pet food stored therein to be forced through a series of exit ports formed in the dispenser head. The exit ports combine to essentially define a sieve, with the wet pet food automatically breaking into randomly sized pieces or extruded sections during dispensing, thereby advantageously avoiding the need to separately chop the pet food apart prior to consumption. The package is preferably sized to store enough pet food for multiple feedings, with the dispenser head including a cap or cover for sealing the container between uses.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2020Date of Patent: March 23, 2021Assignee: Blue Buffalo Enterprises, Inc.Inventors: Jacqueline Iversen, Anthony W Swenson, Tal A Tostenson

Patent number: 9969516Abstract: A pouch, designed to be attached, either directly or indirectly, to a container, is provided with two end portions, each of which is formed with an elongated slit. When the pouch is directly attached atop a container, the end portions are pulled over the lid and catch a rim portion of the container. When the pouch is placed upon a lid covered container, the end portions of the pouch can catch or engage the lid. In accordance with an aspect of the invention, a pair of spaced slits extends from each elongated slit, thereby creating a tab or flap in each end portion. The flap is configured to either directly catch a rim of the container or be tucked under the lid, i.e., between the lid and the container, to attach the pouch to the lid and, indirectly, the container.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 2013Date of Patent: May 15, 2018Assignee: General Mills, Inc.Inventors: Neil E Zaporski, Anthony W Swenson
