  • Publication number: 20070129567
Abstract: This invention relates to the use of a supplemental promoter in conjunction with a noble-metal-containing catalyst comprising a carbon support in catalyzing liquid phase oxidation reactions, a process for making of an improved catalyst comprising such a supplemental promoter, and an improved catalyst comprising such a supplemental promoter. In a particularly preferred embodiment, a supplemental promoter (most preferably bismuth or tellurium) is used in conjunction with a noble-metal-containing catalyst comprising a carbon support in a liquid phase oxidation process wherein N-(phosphonomethyl)iminodiacetic acid (i.e., “PMIDA”) or a salt thereof is oxidized to form N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine (i.e., “glyphosate”) or a salt thereof. The benefits of such a process include increased oxidation of the formaldehyde and formic acid by-products, and, consequently, decreased final concentrations of those by-products as well as other undesirable by-products, most notably N-methyl-N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine (i.e., “NMG”).

  • Patent number: 7190568
Abstract: A multilayer contact approach for use in a planar solid oxide fuel cell stack includes at least 3 layers of an electrically conductive perovskite which has a coefficient of thermal expansion closely matching the fuel cell material. The perovskite material may comprise La1-xEx Co0.6Ni0.4O3 where E is a alkaline earth metal and x is greater than or equal to zero. • Publication number: 20060253547
Abstract: A computer readable medium, system, method and universal music apparatus are disclosed for unifying access over a network to multiple specialized music servers. According to one embodiment of the present invention, a universal music apparatus can include a universal discovery module to discover specialized music servers responsive to one or more discovery protocols, an object manager to determine music server processes for serving music files in accordance with one or more communication protocols, and a number of interfaces each being configured to exchange data with an associated music server process using one or more communication protocols that the universal music apparatus can implement. The generalized music server functions enable the universal music apparatus to communicate with any of the discovered music servers, which typically require music players to perform only the proprietary, unique functions of a specialized music server.

  • Publication number: 20060098528
Abstract: A method of treatment of water in an aquatic environment. Water is first pumped from a reservoir to a first mixing station. An inert gas is introduced into the pumped water at the first mixing station to provide inert gas saturated water, which inert gas saturated water will displace undesired gasses in the water in the reservoir. The inert gas saturated water is then pumped to a sparging column such that the inert gas and undesired gasses will be released from the inert gas saturated water to provide depleted water. The depleted water is then pumped to a second mixing station, wherein oxygen is introduced into the depleted water to provide oxygen enriched water. The oxygen enriched water is then returned to reservoir.
