  • Patent number: 5936395
Abstract: A voltage sensor comprises a helicoidal winding formed by an optic fiber having at least one zone sensitive or sensitized to an electrical field having a 2nd order non-linear electro optic effect. The sensitization process of the optic fiber can be achieved by a polarization process under an electric field. The voltage sensor preferably comprises a device enabling the electrical field lines to be homogenized in the region where the helical winding is located. The phase difference induced by the optic wave by electro optic effect caused by the electrical field and representative of the voltage to be measured, can be measured by polarimetric or interferometric detection.

  • Patent number: 5710629
Abstract: Two input beams (10, 20) of the interferometric measuring device, achieved according to the integrated optics technology, are broadened so as to form two spread flat beams creating an interference pattern (30). Two detectors (14, 15) supply two measuring signals, preferably in phase quadrature, representative of two points of the interference plane.

  • Patent number: 5708750
Abstract: Method of locally embedding a waveguide in a substrate. A mask is arranged on the upper face of the substrate. An edge of the mask obliquely intersects, at a low predetermined angle A, the waveguide to define a partially masked transition portion between non-masked portion and a fully masked portion of the waveguide. After a stage in which the waveguide is embedded in the substrate, the mask is withdrawn. The portion of the waveguide is thereby embedded at a depth greater than portion, portion forming a gradual adiabatic transition between both portions. The method is useful in the manufacture of sensors.

  • Patent number: 5256872
Abstract: The device measures the current intensity in a conductor by FARADAY effect in a monomode optic fiber. It comprises a separator-polarizer formed for example by two coplanar half-disks of polarizing foil, whose polarization directions form a required angle, 90.degree. or 45.degree.. Photodiodes formed by a two-quadrant photodetector in the shape of a disk of the same diameter as that formed by the separator-polarizer, are located behind from the separator-polarizer. The photodiodes are connected to an electronic unit.

  • Patent number: 5148064
Abstract: The medium voltage static switch is formed by serial connection of power semi-conductors, preferably of MOS type, controlled by a capacitive line. A diode is connected in parallel with the capacitor of the capacitive line between the gates of two adjacent semi-conductors. The control voltage is applied to a single control input, between the gate and source of the first stage semi-conductor.
