    Abstract: A securities index is provided by identifying a first index that has a plurality of sub-components; constructing a portfolio that has a plurality of sub-portfolios, each sub-portfolio containing holdings corresponding to one of the index sub-components, and each sub-portfolio having a corresponding initial weight with respect to the portfolio. A second index is defined that corresponds to performance of the portfolio. Performance for each of said sub-components relative to performance of said first index is calculated. A correlation of each of said sub-components with said first index is calculated.
