  • Patent number: 8657851
Abstract: The invention provides tweezers for microsurgery, in particular opthalmological surgery, the tweezers comprising a one-piece working part (1) of U-shape, with the free ends (2a, 3a) of each branch (2, 3) being shaped into a point, the part being derived from a flat blank of thickness (e) constituting the dimension perpendicular to the plane (P) in which the branches (2, 3) move, and elements for manipulating the working part together forming a handle for gripping the tweezers, wherein each element is in the form of an elongate body (4, 5) presenting a convex outside surface (4a, 5a) and a substantially plane surface (4b, 5b) having a longitudinal groove (6, 7) hollowed out therein to house one of the branches (2, 3) of the working part (1), the end of each handle element facing towards the points being provided with centering means (8a, 8b, 9a, 9b) co-operating with a complementary centering member of the corresponding end of the other element.

  • Publication number: 20070255297
Abstract: Device for cutting a corneal epithelial cover includes a fixing ring (1), a suction source (4), a cutting head (5) which is movably mounted on the ring (1) and an oscillating blade (10), elements (7, 8) for actuating the cutting head movements with respect to the ring and elements for controlling a suction, the blade oscillation and actuation adjustment according to: a starting phase of the corneal cover cutting, wherein the suction level is maximum, the advancing speed of the head is minimum and the oscillation frequency of the blade is maximum, a phase for cutting the larger part of the corneal cover, wherein the advancing speed is maintained or increased and the oscillation speed and the suction level are maintained or reduced and a third phase, wherein the head speed is inverted, oscillations are stopped and the suction level is maintained at the reduced level of the second phase.

  • Patent number: 7029485
Abstract: A device for surgery of the cornea comprising: an annular base (100) for fixing the apparatus to the eye of a patient; a cutter head (200) comprising a body (200a) and a blade (201) suitable for being displaced along a plane trajectory parallel to the annular base (100); guide means (106) for guiding the cutter head (200) relative to the base (100); drive means (302) for driving the blade (201) in the cutter head (200) with reciprocating linear motion parallel to its cutting edge (201b); and drive means (303) for driving the cutter head (200) relative to the annular base (100) along said trajectory. Said drive means (302, 303) comprise two independent motor units surmounting the cutter head and having mutually parallel outlet shafts (306, 310) perpendicular to the plane of the trajectory of the cutter head (200).

  • Publication number: 20060064121
Abstract: Apparatus for cutting a corneal flap with: a fixing ring; a suction source; a cutter head including an oscillating blade; actuator elements for actuating the cutter head relative to the ring; control elements for controlling the settings for suction, oscillation, and actuation, of the blade so as to produce: a stage in where cutting of the corneal flap is started, the suction level is at a maximum, the cutter head advance speed is at a minimum, while the blade frequency oscillation is at a maximum; a stage of cutting the major portion of the corneal flap where the advance speed is maintained or increased while the oscillation speed and the suction level are maintained or decreased; and a third stage where the head speed is reversed, the oscillations being stopped and the suction level maintained at the level of the second stage.

  • Patent number: 6641594
Abstract: A device for surgery of the cornea includes an annular base for fixing the apparatus to the eye of a patient. A cutter head includes a body and a blade. The cutter head is displaced along a plane trajectory, parallel to the base. A guide is provided on the base and guides the cutter head relative to the base. A first drive imparts movement to the blade in the cutter head with a reciprocating linear motion parallel to the blade's cutting edge. A second drive imparts movement to the cutter head relative to the base along the trajectory. The first and second drives include independent motor units surmounting the cutter head and having mutually parallel outlet shafts perpendicular to the plane of the trajectory of the cutter head.
