  • Patent number: 5090711
Abstract: A seal assembly for the rotor shafts of internal mixers and the like used in the compounding of rubber and plastic.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 28, 1990
Date of Patent: February 25, 1992
    Assignee: Americhem, Inc.

  • Patent number: 5056800
Abstract: A seal assembly for the rotor shafts of internal mixers and the like used in the compounding of rubber and plastic. The assembly (20, 100) comprises seal rotor (21) carried by the rotor shafts (15, 16) outside of the mixing chamber (14) of the mixer (10) and having a continuous circumferential portion (24) for the bi-directional movement of a viscous melt of flowing material, sleeve (22) non-rotatably carried by the housing (18) of the mixer concentrically disposed about the seal rotor, and retainer (23) rotatable with the rotor shaft and engageable with the seal rotor (21) so as to cause the seal rotor to rotate therewith, wherein movement of the flowable material between the continuous circumferential portion and the sleeve forms a dynamic melt seal thereby controlling the discharge of materials from the mixing chamber between the housing and the rotor shaft.

  • Patent number: 4875382
Abstract: An intermittent or stepping drive has a first rotatable member (20), which is driven by a driving shaft (12), in engaging relationship with a second rotatable member (30) from which a driven shaft (22) is driven whereby a continuous rotation of the first rotatable member (20) is converted into an intermittent rotation of the second rotatable member (30). One of the two rotatable members (20,30) is connected to the associated shaft (12,22) by a clutch (40) which is associated with a retaining member (50) that exerts thereon a retaining force (E) acting in an engagement sense. One of the shafts (12,22) is associated with a control device (60) which controls the retaining force (E) depending upon the angular position of rotation of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4417773
Abstract: A swivel joint has a first U-shaped ring member including two first leg portions which bound a recess therebetween, and a secnod T-shaped ring member having a second leg portion which is received in the recess bounded by the first leg portions. Each of the first leg portions has a first semi-spherical groove, and a second leg portion has two second semi-spherical grooves each forming with a respective first semi-spherical groove a spherical groove. Two rows of balls are provided, each received in a respective one of the thus-formed spherical grooves. The first leg portions may have through-going passages through which the balls can be inserted. The passages may be closed by inserts.

  • Patent number: 4260050
Abstract: A pick-up and dump machine is mounted on rails for travel along the length of the intermediate space between two parallel row-like mounds of material piled on a storage field. A conveyor belt extending along the length of such intermediate space can feed material to and from the pick-up and dump machine. The machine is provided with supports engaging the conveyor belt to form a conveyor-belt loop having an infeed run terminating in a dump end followed by an intermediate run, followed by an outfeed run. A horizontally swingable dump boom has a dump conveyor whose inward end is located to receive material from the dump end of the conveyor-belt loop irrespective of the side to which the dump boom is swung. A horizontally swingable pick-up boom has a scoop conveyor which engages the side of a mound to be torn down and dumps onto the outfeed run of the conveyor-belt loop.
