  • Patent number: 7752913
Abstract: A method and a device for detecting discontinuities in a material region having at least one probe which has a plurality of ultrasonic transducer elements and having an evaluation and control device are proposed, in which the transducer elements are disposed diagonally at an angle to the surface of the material region and are actuated via delay elements in such a manner that a defocusing sound field is beamed in. The received signals of the transducer elements are supplied to a plurality of evaluation modules for parallel and simultaneous further processing for different angle values or angle ranges, the number of evaluation modules corresponding to the different angle values or ranges.

  • Patent number: 5992235
Abstract: An ultrasonic test head for ultrasonically testing flaws in a workpiece includes a common housing. An ultrasonic transducer configuration is disposed in the common housing. At least one ultrasonic transducer array is disposed in the common housing for operation in a pulse echo mode for transverse waves propagating in a workpiece. The ultrasonic transducer configuration includes at least two acoustically separate ultrasonic transducers to be operated in a transmit/receive mode for longitudinal waves propagating near a surface in the workpiece. In a method for operating the ultrasonic test head, each ultrasonic transducer array or arrays is operated in a transmit/receive mode.

  • Patent number: 5704110
Abstract: A device for crimping a plastically deforming metal pole shoe (1) around the end (2) of a cable that has been inserted into it. The device comprises an anvil (3), a die (4), a sensor (5), and a comparator (6). The shoe is placed on the anvil and the die is advanced toward it, deforming the shoe. The sensor emits a signal once the shoe has been deformed to the maximum, and the comparator compares the signal with a reference and emits either an "accept" signal or a "reject" signal. The "reject" signal emitted by the comparator actuates a cable-end trimmer that cuts part-way or all the way through the cable. Consequently, the device will always either acceptably crimp pole shoes to the ends of cables or reliably indicate defective connections.
