  • Publication number: 20040111937
Abstract: A channel letter has a rear surface for mounting against a raceway, wall, or a structure for supporting the signage, and sides defining the figuration of the letter of shape to be depicted. A lighting element is positioned against the rear surface of the enclosure, and a lens is retained to the open front of the enclosure. The lens is retained to a shoulder recessed within the walls of the enclosure. As a first alternative, the lens is retained to the shoulder and has a sealing edging is fitted around the perimeter of the lens. • Patent number: 6748686
Abstract: A channel letter has a rear surface for mounting against a raceway, wall, or a structure for supporting the signage, and sheet metal sides defining the figuration of the letter of shape to be depicted. A lighting element is positioned against the rear surface of the enclosure, and a lens is retained to the open front of the enclosure. The lens is retained by a plurality of retainer clips to a shoulder recessed within the walls of the enclosure and a cable between opposing walls provides lateral support to the walls. Each of the retainer clips has a first and a second leg extending from a back with the legs spaced a distance sufficient for the legs to fit around the end of the sheet metal of the walls. A partially flexible finger extends from one of the legs into the space between the legs so a to wedge against a surface of the sheet metal wall and thereby retain the retainer clip to the wall.

The lens may be retained by a plurality of retainers to a shoulder recessed within the walls of the enclosure. As a first alternative, the retainers may retain a lens without a shoulder where a sealing edging is fitted around the perimeter of the lens. As a second alternative a lens having dimensions greater than those of the enclosure may be retained across the forward end thereof.

  • Patent number: 6481132
Abstract: A sign has an enclosure including a transparent forward panel. Behind the transparent forward panel are upper and lower tracks for receiving a replaceable partially transparent panel having advertising material printed thereon. The enclosure has a removeable panel through which the replaceable panel of advertising material can be inserted or removed from the tracks. In another embodiment, the panel with advertising material is formed as a cartridge having a mounting portion to which a flexible panel of having advertising material thereon can be attached.

  • Patent number: 6202333
Abstract: A channel letter has a rear surface for mounting against a raceway, wall, or a structure for supporting the signage, and sides defining the figuration of the letter or shape to be depicted. A lighting element is positioned against the rear surface of the enclosure. To retain the lens to the open front of the enclosure, a shoulder is provided along the inner surface of the sides thereof where the shoulder defines a plane parallel to the outer ends of the sides but is recessed therefrom. A planar transparent lens having an outer edge which is in the shape of the letter and sized to fit within the sides of the enclosure is retained against the shoulder by a suitable retaining means such as screws.

  • Patent number: 5487231
Abstract: An attraction board has a substantially vertically oriented back with a plurality of horizontal tracks thereon, each track having a downwardly extending upper lip and a upwardly extending lower lip for retaining a figure panel therebetween. A downwardly extending upper lip of an upper track, or an upwardly extending lower lip of a lower track is forwardly offset a greater distance from the back of the attraction board than is the complementary upwardly extending lower lip of an upper track, or the complementary downwardly extending upper lip of an upper track. As a result, an enlarged figure panel can be fitted under the upper edge of the downwardly extending upper lip of the upper track, and the bottom edge thereof fitted under the upwardly extending lower lip of the lower track.

  • Patent number: 5357701
Abstract: An enlarged figure panel for attachment to an attraction board has a planar panel which is adapted to fit over the outer surfaces of the rails defining the channels of the attraction board. A plurality of offset flanges which extend parallel to the surface of the panel are adapted to fit under the upper and lower lips of the tracks of at least one channel of the attraction board for attaching the figure board thereto. A U-shaped spring or a tab is also provided to prevent the figure panel from being blown out of a track of an attraction board by wind.
