  • Patent number: 8097975
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus and a method for starting an internal combustion engine for a motor vehicle, wherein the internal combustion engine has an associated electrical machine (1) which is operated as a starter/generator. During starting, the electrical machine (1) is supplied with a voltage which is obtained from addition or from subtraction of the voltages which are produced on a first energy store (3) and the voltages which are produced on a second energy store (4).

  • Publication number: 20060137918
Abstract: The present invention discloses a power supply circuit for a motor vehicle electric system having a starter generator (1), a power electronics system (LE), at least one battery (B), at least one dynamic energy accumulator (3) and a DC/DC converter (2). The power supply circuit has a first connection branch which is provided with the DC/DC converter (2) and is connected to a terminal of the dynamic energy accumulator (3) and a second connection branch which is connected to a terminal of the battery (B). Both connection branches can be disconnected from the starter generator (1) by means of controllable switches (S1, S2).

  • Patent number: 6418899
Abstract: An electric drive arrangement for internal combustion engines in motor vehicles having an electric starter coupled to the internal combustion engine, and an electric generator drive connected with the internal combustion engine. The arrangement is connected to a supply battery via a semiconductor circuit arrangement, which determines the operation of the generator either in a generator mode or a motor mode. An electronic control device is used for controlling the starting operation of the internal combustion engine as a function of the signal of at least one temperature sensor with the aid of the generator operated as a motor, either alone or together with the starter. This arrangement makes it possible to achieve quicker and more comfortable starting operations in combination with lower pollutant emissions. The starting operations can be carried out reliably even at very low temperatures.

  • Patent number: 6005786
Abstract: A circuit is provided for an alternator of a motor vehicle with the winding of the alternator consisting of two half-windings, with rectification of the voltages and currents at the outputs of the two half-windings taking place, with the outputs of one half-winding being connected with the inputs of a first rectifier, and with the outputs of the other half-winding being connected with the inputs of another rectifier, and with each output of one half-winding being connectable across the gaps of two switchable elements with two outputs of the other half-winding in each case such that when the gaps are bridged, the two half-windings are connected electrically in series. In a method for triggering the switchable elements, the individual thyristors are triggered in succession and/or only individual transistors are triggered, with this preferably taking place when a certain motor rpm is undershot. Diodes c an also be used instead of individual thyristors.
