    Abstract: A plumbing fixture includes a receptacle for receiving waste, a tank for storing water, and an electrically operated pump that conveys water from the tank into the receptacle to flush the waste through a drain. The duration that the pump in operated to flush the waste is altered in response to variation of the electrical voltage supplied to the plumbing fixture. The pump is operated to decrease the amount of water in the tank when that amount is sensed to be excessive. Further operation of the pump is inhibited for a given interval to avoid overheating when the pump has been operating too frequently. The pump is cycled on and off in predefined patterns to indicate different malfunctions to a user.

A lens is threaded onto the opposite end of the housing from within the tub basin to secure the light fixture to the tub. The concave surface has the different color light projected on it, and reflects light out the light fixture in mixed fashion.

The system includes at least two sensors, each sensor including a receiver, and a controller coupled to receive detection signals from the sensors and to generate a control signal in response to the received signals. An actuator is coupled to receive the control signal from the controller and couplable to the plumbing device to act on the bathroom device. The invention is also a method of controlling plumbing fixtures that includes receiving detection signals from a plurality of sensors in a central controller, selecting, in the central controller, which of a plurality of actuators attachable to the plumbing fixtures to operate and directing control signals to the selected actuator to operate the selected actuator.

    Abstract: A heated toilet seat with an outer clam shell type housing and an inner clam shell type housing. A heater wire is positioned in the inner housing to distribute heat. The inner housing is held above the bottom portion of the seat so that little heat is wasted by passing down through the bottom portion. The inner housing can be of essentially the same geometric configuration as the top and bottom portions of the outer housing, and groove and rib structures can tightly enclose the wiring in the inner housing.

In alternative embodiments, a refill tube is connected to an intake conduit and the rim of the bowl to effect a water seal, a fail safe valve is connected to the supply conduit, a receptacle with a cleaning fluid and a pump is connected to the bowl and there are at least two receptacles for receiving waste.

The hollow body contains an integral plumbing sub-assembly that has a solenoid valve supplied by an inlet tube and connected to a spout tube that extends through the spout to an outlet opening at a remote end of the spout. An actuator assembly coupled to the housing includes a timer circuit that controls the solenoid valve to send water from the faucet for a predefined period of time. A switch triggers the timer circuit upon activation by a user operable mechanism on the faucet.

    Abstract: A flushing mechanism for a toilet triggers a flush in response to the closing of the toilet seat cover. A magnet is attached to the seat cover and detected by a sensor. The sensor activates a battery powered motor having a crank arm which directly raises a flapper valve by means of a tensile link. The sensor and motor unit are suspended out of sight in the tank of the toilet by flanges fitting between the tank rim and the tank top. The flanges allow adjustment of the motor and sensor to a variety of preexisting tank type toilets for effective retrofitting. A delay timer prevents repeated energy wasting flushing of the toilet.

    Abstract: For a tub which provides access through a side door, an inflatable seal is employed with the fluid connection to the seal being provided through the door hinge structure. In one embodiment, sensors are provided in conjunction with the water level in the tub so as to activate the source of pressurized fluid to the seal as well as to deflate the seal at a desired time. In another embodiment, a latching mechanism is utilized so as to provide a secure but easy delatching of the door.
