Publication number: 20180291254Abstract: The present invention contains methods, of making a cashew nutshell liquid alkoxylate sulfate surfactant by alkoxylation of a natural alkylphenol using propylene oxide (PO) and/or ethylene oxide (EO) followed by a sulfation reaction. The cashew nutshell liquid alkoxylate sulfate surfactant of the present invention is made by a facile and cost effective method. The natural hydrophobe surfactant of the present invention find uses in EOR applications where it is used for solubilization and mobilization of oil optionally containing asphaltene, wax, naphtenate, and for environmental cleanup. Further, the unsulfated version of the natural hydrophobe cardanol alkoxylate surfactant of the present invention can be used as ultra-high molecular weight non-ionic surfactant. Another advantage is that the composition is a renewable based surfactant that is non-toxic and biodegradable.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 7, 2016Publication date: October 11, 2018Applicant: Clariant International Ltd.Inventors: Dirk LEINWEBER, Anton KAISER, Jonathan WYLDE, Corinna KRUEGER, Hadi SHAMSI JAZEYI

Patent number: 9956547Abstract: The invention relates to a method for preparing polyglycerol, comprising —providing a catalyst salt on a support, the catalyst salt having catalytic activity with respect to an etherification reaction of a polyol selected from the group of glycerol and oligoglycerols, —contacting the catalyst salt on the support with a fluid phase comprising a polyol selected from the group of glycerol and oligoglycerols, —and subjecting the polyol in the fluid phase to an etherification reaction in the presence of the catalyst salt, thereby forming the polyglycerol.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 2015Date of Patent: May 1, 2018Assignees: Clariant International Ltd., Universiteit Utrecht Holding B.V.Inventors: Anton Kaiser, Bert Marc Weckhuysen, Dirk Leinweber, Fiona Kirby, Franz Xaver Scherl, Hans Joachim Metz, Pieter Cornelis Antonius Bruijnincx

Patent number: 7169478Abstract: Multinary alloys, in particular for use as coatings, if appropriate in combination with other types of layers, for components which are exposed to high temperatures and corrosive gases. The alloys are of the general form: Al—Ni—Ru-M, where at least one B2 phase is present, the aluminum content being in the range from 26–60 atomic percent and where M may be one or more metals and/or semimetals selected from the group consisting of: precious metal, transition metal, rare earths, semimetal. Multinary alloys of this type are very stable with respect to oxidation, have a low thermal conductivity and in particular have similar coefficients of thermal expansion to superalloys, which are usually used as substrates for protective coatings of this type in gas turbine components.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 2004Date of Patent: January 30, 2007Assignee: Alstom Technology Ltd.Inventors: Anton Kaiser, Valery Shklover, Walter Steurer, Ivan Victor Vjunitsky
