  • Publication number: 20090235535
Abstract: A tool for releasably securing a blade is provided. The tool includes a housing, a blade retracting mechanism, a blade retaining portion, a blade opening and an actuator. The blade retracting mechanism is movable between a retracted position and a working position. The blade retaining portion is located on the blade retracting mechanism. The blade retaining portion has at least two blade retaining surfaces cooperating to releasably secure the blade to the blade retracting mechanism. The blade retaining surfaces are located a first distance from one another in a blade retaining position and located a second distance from one another in a blade releasing position, the second distance being greater than the first distance. The blade opening is defined by the housing for inserting and removing the blade from the blade retaining portion. The actuator is for manipulating the blade retaining mechanism between the retracted position and the working position.

  • Publication number: 20080301949
Abstract: A pruning saw comprising a handle, a retractable blade pivotably connected to the handle, and a safety latch is disclosed. The handle includes first and second ends, top and bottom surfaces and a longitudinal recess beginning at the first end and extending along the bottom surface toward the second end, while the retractable blade is pivotably connected to the handle at the first end. The blade is capable of pivoting between an open and extended position substantially aligned with the handle and a closed and retracted position concealed within the longitudinal recess of the handle. Accordingly, the safety latch retains the blade in at least one of either the open and extended position and the closed and retracted position. Actuation of the safety latch releases the blade to move freely between the open and closed positions, the safety latch being responsive to at least two buttons positioned on the handle.

  • Patent number: 7255028
Abstract: In one embodiment, a screwdriver having interchangeable bit bodies with permanently affixed bit heads is provided. In another embodiment, at least one transparent end cap is provided to display a bit head in an engaged position ready for use. In another alternative embodiment, transparent end caps are provided at two ends of the screwdriver. In still another embodiment, two end caps are provided that may nest with each other. In yet another embodiment a rotatable end cap is provided. The various embodiments of the precision screwdriver may be utilized independently or in combination. One combination provides a screwdriver comprising two transparent, nesting, and rotating caps. A user can apply pressure to an end cap top (whether nested or not) to stabilize the screwdriver for a particular job while rotating the screwdriver independent of the nesting cap top.
