  • Patent number: 10464508
Abstract: A switching arrangement for discharging an energy storage device of a motor vehicle including an energy storage device that stores electrical energy and supplies an electrical machine of a motor vehicle, a discharging circuit having a discharging resistor, a voltage comparison element and an activation switching device. The activation switching device starts discharging the energy storage device via the discharging resistor at the end of a delay period after the motor vehicle has been switched off. The voltage comparison element compares the prevailing voltage of an energy storage voltage and a voltage threshold value and terminates the procedure of discharging the energy storage device if the prevailing voltage of the energy storage device is less than or equal to the voltage threshold value.

  • Publication number: 20040049785
Abstract: An Alert/Warning Interface resides in a set top box, which is coupled to a user's television, and an Information Server located in the cable plant origination center or head-end. The end user of the set top box is able to configure a profile that includes weather areas to be monitored, roads traveled, and schools their children attend. This profile is stored on the Information Server, along with the profiles of all other users. The Information Server monitors for alert conditions, such as bad weather, traffic jams, and school closings. If any of these events occurs, a message is sent to the set top box associated with a profile indicating the current error condition. Upon receipt of an Alert message, the set top box places an icon (or other graphic) in a predetermined portion of the screen (e.g., a top/bottom corner) indicating an alert has occurred. The user can then switch to the Alert screen view, at which time the Alert icon turns off.

  • Publication number: 20030018982
Abstract: A system and method for adjusting a video frequency response of a set-top terminal using a video frequency response filter. The video frequency response filter is included in a video processing subsystem. The video frequency response filter adjusts the video frequency response of the set-top terminal by using a set of filter coefficients determined by a microprocessor subsystem. The set of filter coefficients can be determined by various methods. One method is by measuring the frequency response degradation of the set-top terminal without the video frequency response filter installed in the set-top terminal. Another method is to measure the amplitude of a color burst signal included in the video input signal. Yet another method is to measure the amplitudes of a multi-burst signal included in the video input signal.

  • Patent number: 6472966
Abstract: For obtaining a compact superconductive power switch for rapid switching speeds and with high dielectric strength, several winding layers (10a . . . 10h) with several windings each are lined up adjacent each other in axial direction. Between individual layers (10a . . . 10h), there are provided cooling/heating elements (8a to 8d) in order to transfer the high-current switch unit (1) to the superconducting state and the normally conducting state, respectively, by cooling/heating, i.e. for closing and opening said unit, respectively. Mutually adjacent current conductors have the switching current flowing therethrough in opposite directions, so that the high-current switch unit (1) is of low induction, which permits fast switching times in particular when the switch is opened by an additional current pulse.
