The tool can be connected to an output shaft on which two conical gear wheels are mounted in spaced relation so that they can be rotated in opposite directions around the output shaft. The teeth on the conical gear wheels face one another and are in meshed engagement with gear teeth on a drive shaft. A coupling part is slidably displaceably mounted on the output shaft and can be engaged with one or the other of the conical gear wheels. The coupling part is secured on the output shaft so that as it is rotated by one or the other conical gear wheels, in turn, it rotates the output shaft in the desired direction.

    Abstract: A hammer drill can be switched between combined rotary and impact operation and impact operation. An electropneumatic mechanism provides the impact force and includes a guide cylinder with a beveled gear wheel extending around the outside surface of the cylinder. The gear wheel is driven by a drive wheel. A coupling sleeve is mounted on the guide cylinder for rotation with it and is axially displaceable relative to the cylinder between a first position in meshed engagement with the gear wheel and a second position displaced out of meshed engagement. A switching device moves the coupling sleeve between the two positions. In the first position, the coupling sleeve rotates the guide cylinder, while in the second position the guide cylinder is locked against rotation. The switching device includes a control cam engaged within a groove extending in the circumferential direction of the outside surface of the guide cylinder.

    Abstract: A tool chuck for securing a tool bit in a drilling and cutting device includes a guide tube into which the tool bit is inserted and an adjusting sleeve displaceable relative to the guide tube. The guide tube has spaced first and second apertures with the first apertures holding locking members and the second apertures holding entrainment strips. The adjusting sleeve has alternating first and second pockets in its inside surface for receiving the locking members and the entrainment strips. With a tool bit having slots for both the locking members and the entrainment strip, both the locking members and entrainment strips can be displaced radially inwardly by the adjusting sleeve. If the tool bit has only slots for the locking members, the locking action can be effected with the entrainment strips maintained radially outwardly from the tool bit.

    Abstract: In a chuck for use in a drilling device, such as a hammer drill, capable of performing rotary or rotary/percussion drilling, clamping jaws are provided to secure a tool in the drilling device. The clamping jaws each have a convex surface transverse to the chuck axis and with the surface directed inwardly toward the axis. The more radially inward portion of the convex surface has a V-shaped notch extending in the axial direction of the chuck. The notch forms a pair of spaced edges which grip the surface of the tool secured in the chuck so that the tool can be reliably rotated.

    Abstract: A tool holder for securing a drilling or chiseling tool in a device includes a guide tube for receiving the cylindrically shaped shank of the tool. An adjusting sleeve laterally encloses the guide tube and the sleeve is axially and rotatably displaceable relative to the guide tube. When the adjusting sleeve is axially displaced a cam projecting from one of the adjusting sleeves and the guide tube contacts a cam surface on the other for effecting the rotational displacement. The cam surface is inclined relative to the axial direction of the guide tube. Openings extend through the guide tube between its inner and outer surfaces and recesses in the inside surface of the sleeve register with the openings when the sleeve is rotatably displaced. Locking elements are radially displaceably mounted in the openings in the guide tube and secure the tool shank in the holder.
