Publication number: 20250065072Abstract: The disclosure relates to medical tubes and methods of manufacturing medical tubes. The tube may be a composite structure made of two or more distinct components that are spirally wound to form an elongate tube. For example, one of the components may be a spirally wound elongate hollow body, and the other component may be an elongate structural component also spirally wound between turns of the spirally wound hollow body. The tube need not be made from distinct components, however. For instance, an elongate hollow body formed (for example, extruded) from a single material may be spirally wound to form an elongate tube. The elongate hollow body itself may in transverse cross-section have a thin wall portion and a relatively thicker or more rigid reinforcement portion. The tubes can be incorporated into a variety of medical circuits or may be employed for other medical uses.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 29, 2024Publication date: February 27, 2025Inventors: Anton Petrochenko, Wenjie Robin Liang, Paul James Tonkin

Patent number: 12226583Abstract: Some embodiments provide a breathing assistance apparatus comprising a conduit for conveying gases therein, the conduit comprising circuitry. The circuitry may comprise at least one heater wire part to heat gases in the conduit, in use, and at least one sensor wire part comprising at least one sensor for monitoring a parameter of the gases in the conduit. There is also provided a controller to control provision of AC power or AC voltage to the heater wire part; and control selective reading of the sensor. The controller may be configured to read the sensor at or about a particular portion of the AC power waveform provided to the heater wire part.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 2023Date of Patent: February 18, 2025Assignee: Fisher & Paykel Healthcare LimitedInventors: Po-Yen Liu, Paul James Tonkin, Salman Mansoor Javed, Chenjie Yan, Peter Alan Seekup, Anton Petrochenko

Publication number: 20200398014Abstract: The disclosure relates to medical tubes and methods of manufacturing medical tubes. The tubes have first and second heating wires and a sensing wire in electrical communication with a temperature sensor. The first and second heating wires are either equally spaced from the sensing wire to minimise electrical interference or a capacitor is coupled between one of the heating wires and the sensor wire to compensate for differences in capacitive coupling between the wires.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2017Publication date: December 24, 2020Inventors: Anton PETROCHENKO, Wenjie Robin LIANG, Paul James TONKIN
