Patent number: 9948140Abstract: An improved control arrangement is used in a high power rectifier and comprises two or more power controllers ganged together in parallel. Each power controller rectifies an AC voltage signal using zero voltage crossing switching to produce a binary switched signal and each power controller is connected to an independent connectable load. Each power controller includes a fast acting binary power switch that selectively connects the respective independent connectable load to the rectified AC voltage signal. The control arrangement selectively activates the power controllers to define a desired connected load. This high power rectifier and control arrangement is advantageously used to provide fast up down power regulation to a grid by selective storage of thermal energy and deriving power from the thermal energy storage system to add fill in power to the grid.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 2013Date of Patent: April 17, 2018Assignee: Kelvin Thermal Energy Inc.Inventors: Anton Pietsch, George Lynch, Stephen B. Sutherland

Publication number: 20110289924Abstract: High temperature energy can be provided using a containment vessel, a heat retention matrix contained within the containment vessel, a volume of a working fluid contained within the containment vessel and in contact with the heat retention matrix, and, optionally, a reactive compound removal system that removes reactive compounds from the working fluid. The heat retention matrix can optionally include an allotropic form of carbon. The working fluid can optionally include nitrogen gas and one or more noble gases. Related systems, methods, articles of manufacture, and the like are also described.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 20, 2011Publication date: December 1, 2011Inventor: Anton Pietsch

Publication number: 20090288679Abstract: The apparatus for cleaning surfaces of the present invention such as for cleaning solar collectors preferably alternates different fluids and gas decompression to create a cleansing fluid evacuation to clean outdoor solid surfaces. The method of the present invention utilizes alternating fluids in order to avoid mineral deposits contaminating the collector. The apparatus of the present invention is a tool to achieve the ends of the method. The apparatus preferably uses copper piping and turbulence to regulate water flow and to create the high velocity fluid evacuation that achieves the ends of the method invention. The use of a constant pressure pump and turbulence inducing fibers allows passive regulation of pressure that is equalized across a plurality of sprayers to deliver an even amount of high velocity fluid from each sprayer. Sonication accelerates cleaning, rinsing or snow/ice removal.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 22, 2009Publication date: November 26, 2009Inventors: Anton Pietsch, George Lynch, Kevin Lynch, George Chang

Publication number: 20070226043Abstract: In a computer system or method for optimized provision of production parts at a manufacturer, a demand for parts is detected with a manufacturer computer system. Data describing the demand are automatically provided over a data connection to at least one vendor computer system of a specific vendor, the data describing the demand for parts to be delivered by said vendor as an actual inventory level and a reorder level.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 27, 2005Publication date: September 27, 2007Inventors: Anton Pietsch, Alfred Pfisterer, Uve Czempik, Peter Petraschka
