  • Publication number: 20030097918
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for cutting paper webs (01) for forming several partial webs. The inventive device is arranged between an output of a printing machine and the input of a folder for folding the cut partial webs. Said device comprises a water jet cutting appliance (10).

  • Publication number: 20030075640
Abstract: The invention relates to an angle bar assembly that comprises a first angle bar around (7) which a material web is wrapped for redirecting the feed of the material web and a table roll (14) around which the material web is wrapped. When looked at from a plane defined by a section of the material web extending between the first angle bar and the table roller, the first angle bar and the idler roll are mounted so as not to overlap.

  • Patent number: 6193640
Abstract: Folders in a web-fed rotary printing press are associated with two spaced horizontal planes. Each of these planes is provided with a superstructure carriage that supports a plurality of turning bars. Each of the superstructure carriages can be displaced horizontally with respect to the other carriage and with respect to the folders.

  • Patent number: 5685528
Abstract: A pair of partial paper web receiving superstructure units are placed above a transverse folding unit in a folding apparatus. Either a drawing unit or a longitudinal folder and its associated folder hopper inlet can be placed between the superstructure units and the transverse folder. Use of the two superstructure units allows the folding apparatus to have a low structural height.

  • Patent number: 5680979
Abstract: A drawing roller drive for the conveyance of a web in a rotary printing press utilizes a differential gear to accomplish a very exact change in the speed of the drawing roller. A single drive shaft and a single power take-off shaft are aligned coaxially with respect to each other. The differential gear arrangement includes a ball race gear and a downstream tension shaft gear.

  • Patent number: 5447101
Abstract: A printing unit for a rotary printing press, and that is capable of accomplishing a flying printing change, uses a single counter-pressure cylinder and two printing cylinders and ink application rollers. The counter-pressure cylinder and the ink application rollers are shiftably supported with respect to the printing cylinders. They also carry eccentric support disks that engage concentric support disks or the printing cylinders. These disks are usable to adjust the contact force between the cylinders to compensate for printing plate wear.

  • Patent number: 5191836
Abstract: A printing unit for a rotary printing press can accomplish a flying plate change by utilizing a pair of forme cylinders in conjunction with an impression cylinder and an ink forme roller which are both pivotably supported. Both the impression cylinder and the ink roller can be moved into engagement with one of the forme cylinders while the printing plate on the other forme cylinder is being changed.

  • Patent number: 4925170
Abstract: In the context of an overhead frame for a folder placed transversely on the delivery end of a web-feed printing press comprising a set of adjustable first angle bars running transversely in relation to the direction of feed of the paper web and arranged to cause a change in the direction of ribbons supplied to the folder intake at least during magazine production, and a second, further set of second angle bars offset in relation to the first set of angle bars and which during production using a former for the ribbons deflect the web ribbons to at least one fold former during former production, and draw, register and angle bars it is possible to achieve a simpler design, short paper paths and greater ease of operation if the design is such that second angle bars and bend rolls, which are used as an alternative to the second angle bars extend parallel to the folder intake, are offset in relation to the first angle bars (which are used during forming and magazine production) in the same direction as the folder i

  • Patent number: 4919049
Abstract: A web feed printing press, more especially a rotogravure press, has a longitudinal shaft for driving printing units and a device for driving the web draw rolls. In order to achieve a simpler design without any direct mechanical connected between the draw rolls and the longitudinal while still ensuring accurate drive operation the drive device for the pair of draw rolls comprises a main motor and an auxiliary motor each with an adjustable speed of rotation. A differential drive has two inputs and one output. The speed of rotation of the main motor is varied in a way dependent on the speed of rotation of the longitudinal shaft and the speed of rotation of the auxiliary motor is varied in accordance with the speed of rotation of the longitudinal shaft and of the tension of the web of paper to be printed.

  • Patent number: 4453464
Abstract: In a printing press such as a rotogravure press having cylinder which frequently has to be changed and which is joined up with a driving shaft by way of a clutch, more rational changing of the cylinder is made possible by designing the clutch in the form of a housing, joined with the driving shaft, and of a pin (coaxially fixed to the end of the cylinder) within the housing, that has a collet-like bush within it which takes up the pin and may be caused to undergo contraction and expansion for gripping and freeing the pin within it. To this end there is a stack of frustoconical washers placed on the bush. This stack may be acted upon by a spring unit in an axial direction while the opposite end of the stack is supported. For freeing the stack from the force of the spring unit and so letting expansion of the bush take place, the spring unit may be acted upon by a piston and pushed clear of the stack. On the opposite side of the piston there is a piston working space into which driving fluid may be run.
