  • Patent number: 4970855
Abstract: The method and apparatus for supplying a reserve feed stock to a spinning machine or spinning position thereof, contemplates monitoring the operational state of a production feed stock and upon reaching a predeterminate operational state thereof, such as near depletion or depletion of the production feed stock, or even rupture thereof, bringing a reserve feed stock previously held in readiness into a production position where such reserve feed stock now assumes the role of a production feed stock. Consequently, downtime of the spinning machine or spinning position can be minimized and its operation at least partially automated since there is always available a reserve feed stock to allow for essentially continuous or continual production of a spun yarn or thread. One specific piecing technique uses a movable member for placement of a reserve feed stock into the travel path of a production feed stock such that piecing of these two feed stocks is reliably attained.

  • Patent number: 4820350
Abstract: A cleaning device serves for cleaning sensing or sensor rollers which are mutually biased towards each other and between which travels a fiber sliver. Roll cleaning is effected by means of a scraper blade which, in accordance with the invention, is moved intermittently into a scraping position and away therefrom. This provides the advantages of reduced wear on the scraper blade provided at the cleaning device and also reduced wear on the peripheral surface of the associated sensing or sensor roller which is to be cleaned.

  • Patent number: 4353149
Abstract: Flat cleaning system for a card equipped with a set of revolving flats, in which the flats (12) consist of a T-shaped profile, and in which, by temporary sealing, of the room between the webs 18, 18a of two neighboring flats (12,12a) using a sealing element 30, a longitudinal duct is formed, in which duct an air stream is generated. By this air stream, any fly waste accumulated on the back side of, and between the flats 12, 12a is eliminated. The air stream in the duct, generated by lateral suction, cleans any fly waste and dust particles accumulated in the duct out of the duct, only low energy suction being required.
