    Abstract: A blood pressure Holter system includes a pneumatic constriction sleeve to be worn on an arm of the user and includes a first sensor for acquiring systolic and diastolic values of arterial pressure of the user. A second sensor is carried adjacent a chest of the user for sensing movement of the user's body. The system further includes a detection and classification circuit for detecting and classifying movement of the user's body for producing an index of a state of physical exertion corresponding to systolic and diastolic values of arterial pressure. A fuzzy logic controller processes the systolic and diastolic values of arterial pressure using fuzzy logic.

A first fuzzy logic processing circuit is connected to the logic circuit for processing the calculated parameters and for generating corresponding fuzzy classification labels based upon movement of the portion of the user's body under observation during an interval of time. A memory is connected to the first fuzzy logic processing circuit for storing at least one of the calculated parameters and the fuzzy classification labels.

    Abstract: A method of assessing the neuro-psycho-physical condition of a person includes acquiring, by a self-contained hand held instrumentation, reaction times, execution times and ergometric data of actions performed by the person carrying out a certain test. This test includes processing the time data and the ergometric data for calculating the power exerted in performing each action. Data on the reaction time and the exerted power is processed on the basis of certain software to produce information on the neuro-psycho-physical condition. The ergometric data and reaction time data are processed by a fuzzy logic processor. The hand held instrument may optionally include also motion and voice articulation classifiers.

    Abstract: Fuzzy logic rules are applied to a method for indirectly measuring a physical signal to be monitored which would be difficult to directly measure. The measuring method comprises the steps of obtaining a derived physical signal from the physical signal to be monitored and measuring a value of the derived physical signal and its variations over time at suitably selected check points. A first set of fuzzy logic rules are applied to ascertain the presence or absence of an index signal adapted to mark at least first, second and third operational zones of the derived physical signal. Only the second operational zone is characterized by the presence of the index signal. First and second significant values of the physical signal to be monitored are measured as start and end values, respectively, of the second operational zone. An apparatus for indirectly measuring a physical signal is also disclosed.
