  • Patent number: 8714128
Abstract: A cylinder head for an internal combustion engine has a body integrating, in a single cast piece, an exhaust manifold and including a lower cooling jacket and an upper cooling jacket, The lower cooling jacket is longitudinally divided into a plurality of separate transverse chambers associated to various engine cylinders, while the upper cooling jacket has a portion extending longitudinally over the entire development of the head and communicating with separate transverse chambers located on the intake side of the head. The exhaust conduits integrated in the head form separate subgroups of exhaust conduits merging into manifold portions superimposed and spaced apart from each other. The lower cooling jacket has a portion thereof which extends in the area of the body of the head which separates the superimposed portions of the abovementioned subgroups of exhaust conduits.

  • Patent number: 8671904
Abstract: A cylinder head for an internal combustion engine has a body integrating in a single cast piece, the exhaust manifold. The exhaust conduits form separate subgroups merging into manifold portions superimposed and spaced apart from each other. A lower cooling jacket, an upper cooling jacket and an intermediate cooling jacket are formed in the head. The lower cooling jacket is longitudinally divided into a plurality of separate transverse chambers, while the upper cooling jacket has a portion extended longitudinally over the entire development of the head. The lower cooling jacket has a portion extending in the area of the body which separates the superimposed portions of the subgroups of exhaust conduits. The intermediate jacket forms a main outlet at an end of the head. The upper jacket has a first portion at the center of the head and a second portion forming an auxiliary circuit adjacent to said main outlet.

  • Publication number: 20120291726
Abstract: A cylinder block for an internal-combustion engine includes a first cavity and a second cavity adapted to contain a cooling liquid extend around respective portions of the cylinder. The first cavity of each cylinder communicates hydraulically with the first cavity of at least one adjacent cylinder to define a first cooling jacket. The second cavity of each cylinder communicates hydraulically with the second cavity of at least one adjacent cylinder to define a second cooling jacket. The first and the second cooling jackets each are in fluid communication with a second supply channel. Each of the supply channels is in fluid communication with a supply source with a direction of flow such that the cooling liquid goes towards the first and second cooling jackets, coming out through the top face.

  • Publication number: 20110277723
Abstract: A cylinder head for an internal combustion engine incorporates—in a single cast piece—the engine exhaust manifold. A lower cooling jacket and an upper cooling jacket arranged below and above said integrated exhaust manifold are provided in the body of the head. At least one of such cooling jackets is divided into separate transverse chambers by partitions extending transverse with respect to the longitudinal direction of the head, so that the cooling fluid is forced to traverse such transverse chambers parallel according to the direction orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the head.
